Hey everyone,

Krupa and Gav here to tell you all about an exciting new project we’ve been working on for the last few months… How to Survive Friday the 13th

Did you know there are two Friday the 13ths this year?

Did you know they’re exactly 13 weeks apart?

There’s absolutely no reason for you to know that. It’s a little quirk of the calendar that happens every now and then. But we thought it was a great opportunity to do something around one of horror's most famous and enduring franchises: Friday the 13th.

During lockdown we recorded Up the Creek, a niche podcast celebrating our love for the BBC mystery series Jonathan Creek, and a couple of years later we evolved that into Halloween: The Definitive Companion, which saw us rewatch every single Halloween movie.

How to Survive Friday the 13th is the next evolution of us talking about things we love. Think of it as the Charizard of RKG podcast series, and like Charizard it’s much bigger in scale.

Similar to those other projects, we’ll be rewatching every instalment in the Friday the 13th series, with episodes being released weekly in both audio and video formats... but this time the series will culminate in us flying to the US and staying overnight at Camp Crystal Lake on Friday the 13th!

We’ll be documenting this amazing adventure in a special video that will debut on Friday the 13th of December.

But until then, we’ll be carefully rewatching every film in the series to learn what to do from its resourceful survivors and what not to do from its reckless victims.

How to Survive Friday the 13th debuts on – and you may have figured this out already – Friday the 13th of September. That's this Friday, with new episodes being released every Friday for the next 13 weeks.

You'll be able download the audio version via your favourite podcast services (It hasn't yet populated on Apple Podcast but should be there very soon) and you can watch the video versions on YouTube.com/RKG

Recently rewatched the whole series and no lie, found myself thinking it would be cool if you guys did another podcast series, similar to the Halloween one. This is great news 🙂

Steve Wood

Fan-fucking-tastic idea.

Buzzing for this!!! Amazing.

Sounds awesome. Loved up the creek, such a great show and the podcast paired with it perfectly

Andrew Beeken

Love this! I did a full watch through of the Friday 13th movies for the first time myself last year (had only ever seen a few of them) so looking forward to seeing Gav and Krupa's thoughts!

This has genuinely made my day. Awesome news. And I cannot wait. Whilst I love some Halloween films, Friday the 13th is a special series for me. Especially when it is very tongue in cheek I mean a lot of the films are nonsense, but they’re very enjoyable nonsense. What an incredible idea for the finale too. Even if I’m a tad jealous

Chris Waterman

The Halloween companion series was such a fun weekly treat. Can't wait to watch/listen along with this one!

Curtis Ebanks

I will be happily watching along. Awesome idea!

Shaun M

Yes! I have been hoping for another podcast series. This time I'll be able to watch along!

John Roebuck

A couple friends and I are also camping this Friday! That's coincidental to Friday the 13th though. Hope we all survive!

Elizabeth

I'm so excited for this!!! Your Halloween podcast is one of my favorite things you guys have ever made and I know this will not disappoint!!

Rob Roche-Skilling

This is ace! I've literally just finished a watchalong of the Halloween films to go with your podcast, so this'll take its place perfectly.

Sean Cottrell

Can’t put in to words how happy this has made me

Alexander Byers

Now I want a series of Daniel playing Final Girl the board game

Zachery Young

Will the episodes be available on Spotify?

Sarah

The one in New Jersey 😱!

Linda Kelley

Watching your lovely British minds trying to understand the actions of characters in an American movie made 44+ years ago. Animals were props, reptiles and insects especially. You could only show a certain amount ofblood and violence on screen the rest has to be implied. You'd be surprised by how many businesses in America reopen after a death in their business, example theme parks. Compared to today's films these are kids films. They show them on broadcast television with the editing more concerned about commercials than film content.

Friday 13th is my favorite slasher franchise, I'm ready to nitpick at everything

Rico Scheller

Absolutely love the camera view in the video! That is way better than a small recording room!

Jon North

I'm rewatching them on the Thursday before the new episode comes out. I've wanted to rewatch them and now I have an even better reason to!

Michael Balletta

Is there any chance of a meet and greet type thing while in NJ!?
