Who seduced Mohg into building a dynasty?

It's time to reacquaint ourselves with the Outer Gods vying for control of the Lands Between. We're approaching the endgame and have now encounter most of the major players in the game but the notion of the Outer Gods is a tricky one to pin down.

How can you ascribe motivations to beings so unlike ourselves? Anyway, we give a bloody good go in this week's Roundtable Hold.

Enjoy!

One thing about Mohg and the blood god has always puzzled me. If these item descriptions relating to it are written by the greater will or someone who doesn't want the blood god to come to pass, then why do they call the god "The mother of Truth"? The word 'truth' would surely seem that they agree with her?

Benjamin Button reference, everyone drink

I don't know if we can say for sure there is one viewpoint for every description. I always had the vibe that the descriptions we read are sourced from multiple in world writers, so we get a few different conflicting viewpoints. But that's just my read on it, I could very well be wrong.

Yeah true, it is hard to say. It seems most of them are written in the same tone? But to be fair I also could be reading too much into that.

For majority of them, they aren’t written by a particular person or POV, per-se. But they’re mainly written to reflect how the world generally views these topics. Like how Mohg is generally viewed as evil (because he’s Omen) and delusional (because he invests in Blood cults). But that’s mainly just how the world generally treats Omens and Arcane cults. Because, in reality, Mohg’s story goes much deeper and is more personal than on the surface. Another example is the ‘Fell God’ of the Fire Giants being referred to as an “Evil Deity.” But that’s just how Golden Order loyalists view the Fire Giants, since they wield flames that can Burn their tree. But in reality, Marika really just invaded their homelands and enacted a genocide. The “Evil” term is generally how the world views the Fire Giants after Marika and the Golden Order erased them from hierarchy

Crazy that we’re already dipping our toes into Shadow of the Erdtree talk. So is the plan to finish base game, then tackle DLC? Or save the last bit of the base game for after DLC is done?

As someone who only ever manages pretty surface level comprehension of these games stories, Roundtable Hold is a godsend. That butterfly shit blew my tiny mind. Dan, you the man

Ben Mitchell

So glad you picked up on and talked about the butterfly theory Krupa. It's something I really subscribe to being done deliberately. Perhaps we can pick it up again in a SoTE RTH episode. 👀

Jake Tyler Howry

Did they actually fight Arganthy? Thought Rory did a runner around that one. Time for a rewatch

Katie Manthey

I could have sworn Melania at one point had dialogue where she talked about her mother (didn’t name her but now it’s more clear who that is)

It's Socrates who drank hemlock after being charged with 'corrupting the youth' of Athens. Leda figures in greek myth as the woman who gave birth to Helen of Troy in a golden egg after being raped by Zeus in the form of a swan.
