What’s next?

Starting next Saturday, and running across the next 3 months, you can expect something a little different from us: Pilot Season.

What is it?

Every week we’ll be playing a different game: different genres, old and new, single-player and co-op. The titles we’ve picked are quite varied but each one is something we’re excited to play.

We’ll be kicking off by becoming Michael Myers in the brand-new Halloween game. We absolutely love the studio’s previous Friday the 13th game – we’ve talked about it enough – and can’t wait to become the Shape and terrorise the teenagers of Haddonfield.

Why are we doing it?

For a couple of reasons. 

Firstly, we wanted to experiment with playing new games, closer to release, in genres a little further from the ones we consider our core titles. 

We’ve no intention to stop playing FromSoft titles or Resident Evil, but it’d be nice to be able to add more one-off videos like this into the mix. So Pilot Season is a great way for us to learn more about what you want and how we want to approach videos like this.

Secondly, and this is very exciting news, we’ve hired our first full-time RKG employee. You may remember earlier in the year we advertised for a video producer, and we’re delighted to tell you we found a fantastic new addition to our small team: Andy! (We’ll introduce him properly in another post.)

Pilot Season will be a great way of getting him up-to-speed on how we do things and familiarise him with all of our systems. It’s a format in which we can easily try out new ideas, and different ways of working so that we’re ready to move onto our next little project – RETRY: Shadow of the Erdtree, which is coming in December this year.

We’re so happy to have found Andy, and we believe in time that you’ll start to see the difference having this additional production resource will make to RKG. We have lots of plans that you’ll start to see be realised before the end of the year. We already have a very exciting announcement for RKG patrons in October – more about that closer to the time.

Do RKG patrons get to watch Pilot Season early?

Yes, RKG patrons on our Extra Features tier (and above) will still enjoy early access. You’ll be able to watch the Halloween episode on YouTube, with a link delivered via Patreon, on Saturday, 12th September. The episode will go public the following week.
