Hey patrons,

We're off to do a pub quiz, so spend a fair chunk of today discussing what is good quiz etiquette and how to avoid being the annoying one on a team.

Also, there's a slight digression on 2009's Brothers, starring Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal, as we examine all the different types of Gyllenhaal there are.

As always, send your questions, problems, funny stories, and Minging or Fair Plays to: bit.ly/ShieldUp

Stay safe and keep your shield up!

Not being able to gift games on PSN and the Switch is infuriating. I end up having to buy the download codes through Amazon and email them off to people but it'd be way nicer for my fam and friends to turn on their system and see a notification about someone buying them a gift.

With experience in the patent world, the likely explanation is that someone else other than Sony patented “gifting a game”. Apple has a US patent on purchasing certain types of digital content (including audio books) on mobile devices, and as such you cannot buy Audible books from Amazon on your phone/iPad/etc. You have to get on a PC and buy the content then download it onto your mobile device. Infuriating!

This is wild you can patent the tech behind what you'd think is free concept. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Very wild - the patent system won't let you patent "software or algorithms" but they will allow patents on "a method of doing business" which is probably how this issue is classified. This is precisely how the "Amazon Buy Now with One Click" shopping is handled...it devolves into ridiculous inconvenience to the end users in many cases...
