We've got a lovely special episode this week where Krupa and Gav reveal their favourite movie trailers. We've used short clips of the trailers in the episode and we've also made a little playlist of these here if you wanted to follow along or watch afterwards.

As I'm sure you can hear, we had an absolute blast putting this together so thanks to the handful of Slugs who suggested this topic. We'd love to do more episodes like this so keep your suggestions coming in to: bit.ly/ShieldUp

Stay safe and keep your shield up!

Funny enough, I revisited one of my favorite trailers last week. It's for a film I haven't thought about since the late 2000s, and I don't know how I'd feel watching it again now, but I loved the trailer so hard when it came out. Zach Braff's film, Garden State, with the song "Let Go".

Oh boy... I bloody love trailers. Totally agreed on that Interstellar pick, but I'm afraid I was one that bounced off it. As you guys were talking about not getting it, I was getting quite worried! But I think I had a grip on what was happening, my issue was that I didn't feel the sentimentality had really been earned - I distinctly remember feeling whiplash from two tonally congruous acts - Act 1 and Act 3, but the middle was just - hey, we're gonna do our Prometheus thing for a bit. I will definitely revisit it though, maybe I just wasn't in the right headspace for it when I saw it on the big, big screen. In terms of trailers I absolutely loved, and may not relate to enjoyment of the movie: - Creed: talk about nostalgia baiting in all the best ways! I caught this blind before a movie, and hadn't heard about it, so the appearance of Rocky - and that song choice. Amazing! - Logan: also a similar vibe, Hurt is way overused at this point - but I thought it was a pitch perfect choice for the film, and is one of the few comic book trailers where I thought it could have been even stronger with less action. Bloody good film, too. - The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (Trailer 1): Here me out! It's almost completely dialogue free, but pure vibes and really gives you a sense of adventure and that carpe diem feel. I had no interest in the film, but seeing the trailer a few times in cinema convinced me to go catch it. (It was... ok) There's so many, to be honest. But one that sticks out from a bit earlier in the century was Troy - I had been such a dork for the ancient civilisations and Greek Mythology and this one brought the heat. I think my original viewing of the trailer cemented it as a film I would love, no matter what, even though subsequent rewatchings in later years have given me a bit more perspective. Anyway, long comment - but like I said... bloody love trailers!

Really fun episode! I can't wait for the inevitable Nolan retrospective podcast series.

I wasn’t very big on Star Wars at the time that The Force Awakens came out and so I actually didn’t see it until it came out on Blu-Ray, which was also the same day I had the “big moment” of the movie spoiled for me… that’s what I get for waiting so long, I guess..? 😅 Great podcast lads!!

I do think you guys are viewing Jordan Peele’s films from a slightly awkward angle. They are horrors and thrillers but from the view point of a culture rather than the more common horrors of a supernatural or psychopath.

I think my fave trailer of all time is the first one for Mad Max: Fury Road - it showed pretty much everything I wanted from a Mad Max movie. Got me so damn hyped for it. And then, of course, it delivered. :)

They love interstellar, a emotional hollow film in my opinion and can't understand why others don't fall for the sappy bullshit. But slags on Get out and Nope (Us is very middle of the road cause it's bogged down by it's symbolism) not understanding why its liked, Gil Scott-Heron hits nail on the head once again.
