This week Rory and Gav are fresh from running the London 10K and still feeling the effects. The lads get into the topic of Icing (surprising your friend with a Smirnoff Ice and forcing them to down it) and things get strange.

Thanks again for everyone who donated to our run and if you'd like to still do so, the page will be open for a little while longer.

Please keep sending us your topic suggestions, questions, funny stories, and Minging or Fair Plays to: bit.ly/ShieldUp

Stay safe and keep your shield up!

Interesting about the slug how reported the popping on the "p's", "b's" and "v's"; I too noticed that (as well as heavier sibilance on the 'S' sounds) over the past couple of months of podcasts and the new Elden Ring episodes. It doesn't look like you've changed mics, still on the Sure SM7B (I have one as well) and it's an incredibly directional mic (which makes sound proofing the room not as important; I've seen pro artists with non-treated home studios singing directly into it without reflection issues) and the windscreen typically takes care of the plosives. Maybe something else in your signal chain? Could go with the larger windscreen for the SM7B as well (the mic comes with 2 different ones). There are also some excellent digital plugins you could use on your mic channels in whatever software you're using to capture your voice, like Oeksound's "Soothe2", which are great for gently removing harshness. Regardless, keep up the good work!

Interested in this running program. Is there a way to DM you on twitter without paying for verification? I refuse to give Elon money.

Gotta put out this Jägermeister is delicious specially after a meal. It is really good digestive. Should be served ice cold like -18°c

Facing the same problem, tried to DM Gav but only possible for verified persons. Would you be able to share the plan here?

Can confirm scottish people call each other ‘fannies’ a lot. Like someone being daft. Used in a sentence: ‘Did you hear Elon Musk changed Twitter’s name to X?’ ‘What a fanny.’
