This week we say goodbye to 2023 by talking about the best things we watched, played and put in our mouths this year.

It's been an unbelievable year for telly, films and video games so if there's anything we've missed, please chuck it in the comments. You can also jump into the Shield Up channel on the RKG Discord where people gather to chat about the episodes every week.

We love making this podcast so if you have any suggestions for episode topics, questions for any of us or you need a Minging or Fair Play sorted, send them to: bit.ly/ShieldUp

Stay safe, keep your shield up and thanks for being a part of our year.

2023 really was an insane year for video games so many incredible games

You guys seem to be the only group I follow that's made content to cover Christmas etc. Appreciated!

Ryan Brooks

I would highly recommend seeing the new Godzilla movie. It's the first Japanese one I've watched and considering the low budget compared to other films, the visual effects are incredible. Not to mention a great cast of characters you care about.

Shane Hyland Pierce

Was looking for some new movies and shows to watch before the holidays end and you've sold me on plenty, cheers lads!

Watched: Castaway Diva (K Drama) or Golden Kamuy (anime) which is basically set after the Russo-Japanese War and a dash of The Good The Bad & The Ugly (Gold etc). Movie: Godzilla Minus One or They Live or The Untouchables. Game: Baldur's Gate 3. Absolutely obscene. Shorter Game: Paradise Killer (detective game). Food: Corny but my mum's cooking. After being away, its a slice of heaven.

TAS = Tool-Assisted Speedrun. A programed run of the system where the author can use the speed of the processor to enter inputs at a speed humans physically can't accomplish. Lots of fun to see how broken certain games are when you can spam out certain inputs extremely fast. As a heads up Games Done Quick has one of their two main events starting on January 14 2024.

Kyle White

Have you seen the show Monarch? If so what did you think?

Ryan Brooks

I'm yet to see it. I'm going to start it tomorrow as my brother just got Apple TV.

Great podcast but have to call out one thing, Roy Keane is Irish think Krupa described as a British hard man!

rkg

Did I? A slip of the tongue. I obviously know that Roy Keane is Irish. I certainly wouldn’t have made that mistake if he was present…

Spidey 2 is probably my GOTY as well, but a comment on Rory and how in the boss fights people talk...I had to rewatch those boss fights on youtube after, 'cos I was so focused on the combat, I didn't register a word they said lol. Anybody else experience that? Like, shut the hell up, I'm trying to beat this boss!
