Couple fun facts: Killing people by making them walk the plank wasn't actually a thing pirates generally did, but the historic stede bonnet was one of the few who did. (my theory being that he actually read it in a book and didn't realize it was fake) Whereas the actual blackbeard didn't have a kill record until the sea battle where he died. Once again, absolutely impossible to guess what is based on reality and what isn't... 🤣

Wee John doing drag Was inspired by the fact that the actor Kristian Nairn used to do drag. (and his mother helped him make his dresses which he used switched up for the improvised line in the pilot where wee John said he used to sew dresses for his mother). ❤️

Is it canon or my head canon that Stede knows the plank works for spiders because Ed hates Spiders so Stede makes them walk the plank?

As a 30yr old, I had to pause as Izzy started singing because I'm so used to that sorta situation being used as a punchline, so my instinct was to brace myself. But the fact that the show had everyone around being happily surprised felt like a balm on my soul. I'm not nearly eloquent enough to explain how much this scene means to us older queers but this show was game changer after game changer

Calypso is a sea goddess that is famously from Homer's Odyssey, and I believe pirates did worship her at the time. I loved this episode just for how queer it was, it was beautiful. Izzy putting aside his masculinity to try drag and sing made Izzy one of my favorite character in the show. Con O'Neill has a beautiful voice and both the english and french version of him singing La Vie en Rose is on spotify!

That's my head canon as well, especially since stede strikes me as someone who would just let spiders be if it was up to him. (might give you a lecture on why they are useful)

My fav episode of ofmd is This is happening ^^ I think I prefer (in all shows I've watched) calm moments between two plot. Sort of filler, just a cool adventure ! Just like in Good Omens, my favorite episode is The hitchhiker for the same reason ;)
