Here we are wrapping up season 1! This season put me through so many twists and turns! Excited for season 2 with my boy David! This video I will be reacting to the episodes "Boom Town", "Bad Wolf", and "The Parting of the Ways".

This is a VERY pedantic point, so don’t sweat it if you forget. Technically, “Season 1” was 1963-64, and we call the ones from the new millenium “Series” 1, 2, 3, etc.

You: If he cries I'm in big trouble. Me: Oh, oh dear God.

Verdigree

All these game shows being referenced to are real game slows and reality tv, Big Brother is real, the Anne Droid looks like the host of The Weakest Link, Anne Robinson

Luke

was having a not so great day today so seeing this upload has made me feel better :)

Chloe Small

The "trick" Time Lords use to cheat death is called Regeneration. In short. the Doctor stays the same *person* throughout his many lives, has many recurring traits (he never likes using violence, for example) but some traits come out more than other depending on the incarnation. I remember you saying Eccleston's Doctor HATES Daleks and had no empathy for them, but you might be surprised how some incarnations are more forgiving of them than others... Anyway, gonna stop now before I accidentally slip in a spoiler. :P Glad you're enjoying the show, I'm really having fun rewatching it with you!

Luke Teasdale

ah yes the first time people realise the tardis isnt any old spaceship

Matthew

Looking forward to your journey with David Tennant's Doctor!

Luke

i forgot how much i love that restaurant scene from boom town with the doctor and blon fel-fotch. genuinely so good. like the slitheen are so ridiculous as a concept but boom town is brilliant. also i feel like that's why so many ppl watching heartstopper immediately recognised annette badland from doctor who specifically, bc even though she's only in like 2 stories and doesn't have a major role in the series as a whole, she's absolutely incredible in this episode.

Luke

"you're pulling that trope on me when i'm a good omens fan?" oh, the good omens parallels will probably continue in later episodes lol. i can think of moments from both of the next two seasons that vaguely reminded me of good omens on a rewatch lmao

Luke

the tears of joy over david tennant lmaooo im so excited for you to see his seasons now :D :D :D

LikeCat

The good, the bad, the tragic, and (most importantly) the ones that give us GO vibes like a lot.

LikeCat

When you mentioned the fly in paralell to ,,Bad Wolf", I knew EXACTLY what you were getting at, but I cannot imagine what someone who didn't seen Good Omens must have thought.

LikeCat

I really REALLY hope that you will react to the first Christmas Special (,,The Christmas Invasion") which takes place between Series 1 and 2. It has some of my fav moments of David as The Doctor, and it is just a bloody (heh) good episode in general.

Wolfie Hart

Yeah, they ABSOLUTELY need to watch The Christmas Invasion! It's so important to see the proper introduction. David Tennant as the 10th Doctor.

LikeCat

So about the Rose/ Bad Wolf thing, the long and short of it is this: Its a paradox, as she said it in the episode ,,I create myself".

Flufux

That's her (Anne Robinson) actually voicing the Anne Droid as well.

Flufux

Doctor Who is definitely the role that put David Tennant on the map...and also the role that fooled everything into thinking he was English instead of Scottish, given that he uses an English accent in this. It's also the first role I saw him in...or, well, no I did see him in that one Harry Potter movie first, but his role was so minor in that one so I kinda forgot it was the same guy when I started watching Doctor Who. I just realised how ironic it is in hindsight that Tennant was ever in Harry Potter given how much him and JK Rowling don't get along these days. Oh, and funnily enough, when me and my mum were watching the show for the first time, she was really upset at first that they replaced Christopher Eccleston and was like "Who the hell is this guy?"...and then like an episode later David Tennant became her favourite Doctor.

Wolfie Hart

Series 1 has ended and the start of David Tennant's reign as the 10th Doctor begins. Oh Morgan... you sweet summer child, you have no idea what you're walking into. No. Idea.

Verdigree

This is a wierd comparison, but something about the space station reminds me of Alien Stage, a Korean musical webseries of shorts created by a lesbian couple, I think you would ADORE, Morgan

Jules Moum

I loved seeing your reaction of Christopher's Doctor. I can't wait to see your reactions to David's Doctor😁

Ash Vander

i'm so glad you enjoyed the 9th doctor!!!! i can't wait for you to see all of david's greatness in doctor who as 10 *(and maybe also the specials when he's the 14th doctor)* either way i'm considering these reactions my xmas gift from you and i'm loving it!!!

labyrinthpeaches

I've been so excited for your reaction to these episodes, they're so intense but so so good! It's sad of course to say goodbye to Nine but it's a great goodbye, and it's so cool to see your reaction to the regeneration when you didn't know about it at all! Glad you're excited for David Tennant/10, it's going to be good :D

labyrinthpeaches

Also I never realised how confusing the Game Show episode must be at first to non-British people who haven't grown up with those shows, Big Brother and Weakest Link just seem so familiar to me!

NatMcK7

Finally finished watching the full reaction! This was EPIC and I'm SO EXCITED for you to watch the Christmas special!!! It's gonna be awesome!

Now that you've had official confirmation that all the Doctors are indeed different iterations of the same character, 2 things I'd like to point out from the Empty Child/Doctor Dances episodes When Doctor Constantine says "before the war I was a father and a grandfather, now I am neither but I am still a doctor." Our Doctor says he knows the feeling, which is in reference to the fact that the very first Doctor travelled with his granddaughter Susan for about a season At the very beginning, the Doctor's psychic paper says "John Smith" which is an alias the Doctor has been using in more... "professional" settings (i guess? or just in places he knew just "the Doctor" wouldn't be accepted) since he was the second doctor and it was actually invented by his companion at the time since the Doc was passed out and the nurses weren't accepting "Doctor" and his companion just read off the company name printed on some nearby medical equipment lol

I Create Myself

Oh, I watched those shows, too, in the US. I think it's more of a time-frame thing. I was watching those shows 25 years ago, when Morgan was a baby.

I Create Myself

I'm so glad you're enjoying the show! (I knew you'd enjoy Tennant's run, of course.) There are so many characters I'm looking forward to you meeting, so many scenes that'll crack you up. And yeah, no spoilers, but keep the tissues close because some episodes you will need them.

SauceyRed

I thought "series" was just what British people use instead of "season"

LikeCat

Not just episode, but certain scenes. So yeah always have tissues nearby.

LikeCat

Yes, and that is (most likely) why NewWho is ,,numbered" like that. It is a little confusing tho, ClassicWho was ,,Season 1, 2, 3 ect., NewWho was Series 1,2, 3 ect., then with the Disney deal last year it back to Season 1.

LikeCat

Fun fact about regeneration: It wasn't a planned thing from the beginning, in 1966 because of the decreasing health of William Hartnell (The First Doctor) the people who made the show at BBC at the time came up with the concept so that they can make more of the show without retconning stuff (You know replacing THE lead actor without an in-universe explonation), and it worked, so over the years they polished the concept to what it is now.

LikeCat

You never commented on it so I don't know if you know, but every Doctor has a catchphrase (sometimes said by other characters or other incarnation of the Doctor), just keep an eye out for it. For Nine it is ,,Fantastic".

GeeksFTW

Just to make sure you are aware. there are Christmas specials between seasons, which may be independent, not part of the season load-out.

fluffqueen91

The ninth Doctor will always hold a special place in my heart and grows dearer to me with each rewatch, but Ten was the one I fully fell in love with first (not a hard thing to do, really). The series with Ten are also what led me to poke at shows that Tennant starred in later on, which I'll always be thankful for!

Willow 404

Also yes, please make sure you react to the Christmas Specials since I don't know whether you're already planning to or not. pretty much ALL of the christmas specials are a required watch and they all are also on Max in the correct order/where they would be chronologically

LikeCat

Now that you know about regeneration here is a little ,,fun fact". Remember when in episode 1 The Doctor was in Rose's apartment, when he looked in the mirror he was shocked about his own reflection. This is why, he just regenerated (it might have been queit a while ago, but Time Lords have really long life-spams, but in human years it might have been huandreds of years ago) and didn't knew how he looked.

Willow 404

I know this is my third comment on this video, sorry sorry, but it's no secret to anyone that knows me personally that Doctor Who is kind of... my biggest obsession ever. and I have made a google doc of watching Classic Who/Modern Who in order, including holiday specials and minisodes and the two spinoff series. It has links to the Classic eps and to the minisodes and I want to provide it for both Morgan or anyone else in these comments that are interested. Modern Who is updated only through the 13th Doctor and Classic Who links are updated as I myself watch it, I'm on season 15 out of 26 https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Zeg-fdJOljULxaobWF5UytoMCSDEZO1drsjZr3GdCa0/edit?usp=sharing

Willow 404

classic Bootstrap paradox, i think

Willow 404

The "cut" scene you watched at the end wasn't an actual cut scene, it was a mini-episode called "Born Again" that they filmed for a "Children in Need" charity ❤️

LikeCat

And the real question is this: ,,But then who composed Beethowen's Fifth" *que the coolest intro sequence*

Sirghostfreak

I know it's random but there is clip of David recording himself spending Christmas with his family and watching his episode premiere on TV

LikeCat

They do someting (usually a minisode of some kind, but not exclusively) every Year for ,,Children in Need" starting with ,,Born Again"

The Baker's Ruview

Raxacoricofallapotorius home planet of aliens like the Slitheen and Blathereen.

Faroth

in teh harry potter books, the episode in which barty crouch junior "dies", is called "The Parting of the Ways", who is interpreted by David Tennant, who starts being The Doctor in DW in the episode "The Parting of the Ways"... coincidence?

Faroth

Funfact: the catchphrase and certain item they choose for their outfit is choosed by the actor, the producers gave them that choice so they make that Doctor THEIR Doctor

LikeCat

Yep: Nine had the jacket (it was NOT Chris' just his choice of cloathing), Ten had the sneakers (David's ACTUAL shoes he incorporated), Eleven had the bowties (they ARE cool), Twelve and his "thing" (will not spoil in case they decide to continue watching the show)
