WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE TO MICKEY?!?! In this video I'm reacting to the episodes "Rise of the Cyberman" and "The Age of Steel".

Next to the Daleks, the Cybermen were one of the most iconic monsters in the show’s history. In fact, there as a period where they were the de facto monster for the Doctor to fight against.

Oh I cannot wait for this one. “Rise of the Cybermen” was actually the first ever DW episode I had watched when I was 10. I was aware of it before hand, but this was what started it for me in loving this show and David Tennant. Glad you’re getting into it Morgan. 💜

33:38 literally neuro-link... this guys musk... by the way cybermen were first conceived of in the 60s... 60 years ago

Rise of the Cybermen - The actor who plays Lumic is far better known for playing affable idiots in light-hearted sitcoms. Scary to see him as a cold-hearted murderer, but he's good at it. - Lumic's appearance with his mechanised wheelchair is imitating the look of a much more famous pre-Eccleston Doctor Who villain. -The idea that our government wouldn't immediately acquiesce to an oligarch like Lumic seems staggeringly naive these days. - David in a tux! - You should check out what Cybermen used to look like in the 60s. - With the surrender, the way I interpreted it was it's a logical gambit that any soldier should go for, but the Cybermen's protocols are so exceptionally bloodthirsty for this coup mission that they're killing the ruling class even if it means wasting good stock. Age of Steel - Apparently in a deleted scene Jake revealed that he and Ricky were boyfriends. - The cyberfactory is Battersea Power Station in real life, a famous London landmark that is now an upmarket shopping centre. - I remember as a kid my stomach lurching when I saw that thick smoke belching out the cyberfactory's chimneys when I realised what they must be burning. That shot of a Cyberman staring at its reflection and mindlessly warbling in pure despair as its soul breaks also stayed with me.

Great reaction as usual! Glad you're still enjoying it!

I’m pretty sure it was the first season 2 episode they made

2026-09-19 16:00 33:06 seeing you realize this show is now 20 freaking years old... hilarious🤣 33:50 well, I can speak for myself that I would much rather die in my human body, than put my brain in a metal body! 34: 28 THAT'S FROM Tim Burton's Corpse Bride😂. Nice callback to that👏🏽 1:15:18 Same. Exact. Reaction😱😱😱 Last edit: It was really sad that Mickey stayed in that parallel world, but it's also nice. He gets to be his own person, not in the shadow of the Doctor. He gets to be a hero. Anyways, that's the last of my thoughts. Later Morgan😁✌🏽

The cybermen still disturb me to this day

The Cybermen are an easy second place, a silver medal (if you pardon the pun), for the most iconic monsters in Doctor Who...behind only the Daleks. They actually debuted in the First Doctor's last episode back in the 1960s, and appeared a lot since then. While Daleks are very clearly alien invaders, the Cybermen play on a very different horror since they're way more realistic and way more human, hinting that one day humanity will become some version of Cybermen no matter what. Also, I'd rather be lasered to death by a Dalek than converted into a Cyberman. Funnily enough, in the old show they had a catchphrase that was impossible to take seriously: that being a very overdramatic 'Excellent'...which is odd considering they're not supposed to have emotions.

The Cybermen are (In my - and many other fan's - opinion) way more scary than the Daleks for one reason: They are - well were - humans. Their origins have changed a bit over time, there was one consistent part was that they were created from humans, be it like here on an alternate Earth or way back when with them being from thecnically from outer space, but from a far distant future human colony. (If I'm not mistaken)

the deleted scene is this https://youtu.be/i3MzNvT5q6E?si=PW0eMxOhQPtSHjy9 and i kinda wish theyd kept it in bc i feel like it adds something to jake's reaction to ricky's death? also somehow i didnt realise the connection between lumic and the earlier doctor who villain before reading this comment 🤦‍♂️ but yeah that 100% makes sense

Oh. Sorry, but I'm just counting this one. Not the one from the 1960s

I miss when TicTok wasn't just crammed with far right disinformation.

So... The Daleks exterminate any and every other species, because they want to be the ,,supreme lifeform" in the universe. On the other hand Cybermen kill/ convert human because... Period... And that ladies and gentleman is why they are so f*** scary.

Excellent reaction episode! Bring on more Doctor Who! This is quickly becoming one of the highlights of my week. :)

Let me tell you, THIS is the only Doctor Who story that I as an 8-year old watching freaked me out (in the intended way) to the extent my dad turned the episode off out of concern (but that did mean the last part of Part 1 I was was the scariest part, lol)

Good Sci-fi never really predicts the future, so much as it embellishes the world as it is. The writing was already on the wall when this was released. It just seems a more feasible future now. 👼 One of the greatest things about this series is seeing the beauty in this messy thing we call existence. That it's the flaws of humanity that can produce nightmares or truly amazing accomplishments. And that even the lowest among us can rise to the occasion and find our place in it all. I wouldn't call Mickey "low", but he certainly felt he was as part of The Doctor's entourage. And when he found his place, he made an unthinkable choice to abandon everything he knew to be where he belonged. Speaking of unthinkable choices... The Doctor makes them fairly routinely. The Cybermen needed to be stopped, but the only way to do so was to return their humanity to them. That each and every one of them lived out their last moments in the horror of the realization of what they'd been turned into. An unthinkable choice, but a necessary one in the moment. 👼

Verdigree

You have in fact seen a metal head with similar eyes before, it was in “Dalek”, in that rich guy’s alien museum. “The Long Game” had several robots, those were just robots.

2025 being 20 years ago is very mind-blowing to me. Like why is time going by so fast?!!?

,,Last episode was creapy, I don't think I will be able to listen to clocks ticking without being paranoid" - Welcome to DW Morgan. This is just the tip of the iceberg of ,,Ordinary things that makes DW fans shiver in fear/ being on HIGH ALERT for things to happen."

And we all know who is the more inposing villain out of the two of them.

I have a genuine phobia of stone statues especially you know what. I dread the day Morgan watches that episode lol. I first watched it when I was about ten and I am still scared shitless of them

Elisa H.

i gotta say i was always kinda on roses side in this one. she doesnt exist so there is no actual harm in going to see her dad as long as she doesnt say who she is. its not messing with the past like in fathers day

Daleks= nazis (if you arent them, in their pure state, you have to die) Cybermen= communists (if you arent them, they force you into them and they upgrade their system with whatever they can take from the ones assimilated) At least that was the og idea
