The entire time I thought Scrooge was off his rocker. I should have known better than to doubt him.

Placing coins on the eyes of the deceased was a traditional custom in Scotland. This kept the eyes closed and prevented the spirit from returning. Since it was an old custom, it made sense for Scrooge to do it since he was so old, and I love that detail. Giving the deceased money is/was also a practice in other cultures to pay the ferryman of the underworld.

The plot of a man descending into madness through deranged conspiracy theories while refusing to admit he's sick, while people around him take the illness seriously and put on masks has aged. I'm not sure if it's aged brilliantly or horribly, but it has definitely aged. In the original show, gold fever was a real disease Scrooge got, with symptoms generally similar to the fake symptoms here. "All I Do Is Win" was originally a placeholder during production intended to be replaced with a similar original song, but the staff got so attached to it that they actually licensed it for the show. After this episode aired, someone asked Frank Angones on Tumblr if Glomgold really spent a whole year in a staring contest with a baby. His response: "TWELVE. MONTHS. LATER." Sure, it wasn't Glomgold's WORST plan, but that's not saying much. It did take him several spectacular failures at robbing the bin and a year in a staring contest with a time-frozen baby before he actually started doing something effective.

So glad you finally made it to this episode! One of the fandom favorites of the series and for good reasons!

Also, nice stolas shirt! I got the same one from the Helluva Store months ago!

I will make a quick note the itchiness can be a side effect of the paranoia. I get anxiety itches a lot. Also the outfit Scrooge wore in his disguise at the funeral looks a lot like David’s Doctor Who outfit. Funny since it’s the same actor.

22:50, "Disney. Disney wtf do you mean you put this f*cking song in this show?" What song is that? But yeah, could Glomgold get anymore braggy than this? 30:45, "NO ONE TOLD DONALD?!" At first I thought they left him out of it, to make Scrooge's death look more realistic. But apparently, Louie just forgot to tell him😂 34:35 (last edit), "Peace☝🏼. Whst the- wtf is this? Peace🫡✌🏼😊" 🤣🤣. One last laugh🤣. That was an interesting reaction. I'm looking forward to the next episode because then we get to see Della again, ah😄!

That's actually pretty cool😎, and yeah, it makes sense for Scrooge to want this in his funeral😊

When my Mother in law had her first stroke, she called to let us know she was having problems walking but "don't worry, I'll take the bus down to the doctor this afternoon..." "Gold Fever" was actually a real disease in the OG Ducktales show.

I love that they don't let us in on what's really happening until the big reveal at the end. These kinds of episodes are ny favorite. 😂

The tissue boxes on his feet are likely a nod to Howard Hughes. Billionaire, aviator, extreme germophobe. He was not mentally well in his later years and felt the tissue boxes would keep germs away. Honestly, probably Glomgold's greatest scheme. I mean, he could have done much more effective things with that device, but this was actually pretty clever. How much hate do you gotta have to have the ability to stop time and do literally anything you want, and you use that ability to harass your nemesis in incredibly petty ways.

There's something so genius about the comedic writing in this episode. 😭 The rewatch value of it is off the charts. It's still fun to watch even after having seen it multiple times, because it's just that good. (Thanks for giving me weekly things to watch when I'm working on my Spindlehorse merch assignments, Morgan! Your reactions are always so fun).

Happy to be of service! Can't wait to see what designs you come up with! They're always bangers 🙌
