Welcome to the end of the Earth! (the penultimate episode of Season 2 dropped today)... Sorta, not really.

Jules Moum

9:47, "So, my father made me do physical punishment when I was bad." He WHAT?! I can feel my hatred for him, increase😠😡🌡 24:37. JUMPSCARE!😱 "Okay." *closes the door* "Okay!" 😂😱 26:40, "They stole something. Something so precious🥺." The first thing I can think of is his Fog Watch. If I'm wrong, I'll admit it😔. If I'm right, I'm gonna brag a little bit😁 43:05. Firstly, I was wrong about what "precious" was taken from him, so I apologize for that😔. Secondly, 43:10, "😂😂😂😂. He's like WTF?!" 😂😂😂😂 50:15, Rosita: "One last thing" *punches Ms. Mercy in the face* Me: 😂👏🏼. Fantastic😁👏🏼 1:09:35, "Okay, let's place our bets. Who thinks, she's gonna take the deal🫱🫲? Anyone? (Not me) Who thinks she's not gonna listen✋🏻?" I think that✋🏻. She won't take the deal. She's way to stubborn and stupid to accept The Doctor's offer🤦🏽‍♀️ 1:18:05, "That offer of Christmas dinner, it's not longer a request, it's a demand.... You've actually gone and changed my mind, not many people can do that." Omg, The Doctor is actually gonna join a dinner party😲. We'll done Mr. Jackson Lake😃, bravo👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 2:06:50, "I assumed he, like, made it! Idk he f*cking stole it!!" Oh!! That's right. I thought you already knew. Cause I knew he stole it. If I'm right about this, he either ran away from something/someone or it was an emergency. Probably the Time War! Hmm, I'm curious if we'll get to see how and why he stole it🤔 2:24:45, Morgan: "What is returning through the dark?" Lady: "He will knock 4 times." Morgan again: "Who?! NOT THE - IS IT THE MASTER With The *claps their hands in a drum rhythm* ?!?" Honestly Morgan, I have no idea😐. I guess/hope we'll see, when it's time. Last edit: Well, that was something. Looking forward to the next reaction. See ya then Morgan, bye👋🏼👋🏼

I do like "The Next Doctor" because of the creepy ass cybermen, "Planet of the Dead" not so much. Dear gods Morgan your biological dad is horrible CYBERSHADES that's what they're called, it's been a minute lol Friendly reminder that the Doctor doesn't actually need his brainy specs he just wears them coz they make him feel smart lol (Love Ten so much) I mean if you wanna count the sky as "space" as it is a space you move through then yes? :P You will never escape the tears Morgan I actually like this special because of the steampunk element. Can't say the same for the next one. Will make a different comment for the second special if I have any

ItsSimmeRin

That is freaking Ambessa’s voice actor in the last episode

NatMcK7

why would you spoil this

T0m4002

17:50 he’s the cyber planner because he was made with a brain that is more intelligent than… that’s why his brain shows

,,I know those Converse anywhere" - Fun fact those are David's acual shoes... When it came to desigening his costume for Series 2 and beyond he asked the costume desigener if he can bring one of own clothes to try and see how it fits with the vibe.. and he brought his shoes.

T0m4002

20:05 that’s what baubles used to be… they smell good too because you can cover them in cloves

T0m4002

27:25 historically wearing red ment your happy they are dead

T0m4002

28:29 matron means she was in charge of taking care of the kids… the head care giver/staff manager Also support the poor is relative… they were put in borderline slave labour for a basic meal and bed for years if not the rest of there lives

To answer (and not answer) the question on why he stole his TARDIS... He had A reason...

Willow 404

yoooo the hair looks sick also the TARDIS' are grown, not built, as they're sentient creatures with souls and thought. the Doctor stole it from the Time Lords sometime before his very first episode as the First Doctor, so long before the Time war (which took place off screen between the 8th Doctor Movie and the 9th's Doctor's debut in modern who). There's even a Classic who episode w/ the 2nd Doctor where the Doc goes back to Gallifrey and goes to trial for theft of a TARDIS lol

As someone who had seen these specials a couple of times... All I say is if these two are/ were the fun calm before the storm, the last three are increasingly ARE said storm... Sometimes I wonder how can David act Crowley like how he acts him, then I remember these three episodes exist and I know how.

Jules Moum

👀👀👀. Well, it's been, what, like half a year since I watched these seasons, so it'll be rather interesting for me. Plus, I have to say, I skipped most of these specials😬. Jumped straight to the ending of the last one. I wanted to be surprised during Morgan's reactions😅. Oh well, looking forward to seeing how it all ends😁

Cass

Oyster is basically a special credit card for using the london subway :3

ShadowDust

So with him stealing the tardis, I’m not going to say anything about how or why (mostly because I don’t remember lol), but I will explain the timeline. The doctor has had the tardis since the first doctor in 1963, whereas the time war which killed all of the time lords happened between the 8th and 9th doctor (Christopher Eccleston) where you picked up. All i’ll say is the war is touched upon in the future to explain the timelines, so keep watching!

The Baker's Ruview

I guess technically Blon Fel-Fotch Passameer-Day Slitheen. Is the only "enemy" so to speak that took the doctors chance for "redemption" by converting back into an egg - boom town (Darcy's gran in heartstopper)

temp89

The Next Doctor - Cyber Controllers (local commanders) have the visible brain. If you remember, Lumic had the same design when he was converted. - Yes, people used to decorate Christmas trees with fruit in the olden times, though it was usually apples. - When Rosita talks about the "Doctor" having constant bad dreams at night, that's actually another hint that he's human. Time Lords barely sleep, like an hour every few days or so. Planet of the Dead - "I only use my oyster when there's an R in the month." - In this time period all London public transport was paid for by tapping what was called an Oyster Card to a scanner. There is also an old rule that you should only eat oysters when there's an R in the month as that's when they're fresh. It's not the best joke. - The bus was never meant to be damaged by the portal. They filmed on location in the Dubai desert and shipped a London double-decker all the way there... only to have it clipped by a shipping container on unloading and the roof crushed. So they worked it into the story. - Barclay is played by now-Hollywood movie star Daniel Kaluuya. - Carmen (the psychic lady) is played by Ambessa's voice actor. - Dr Malcom Taylor is played by a stand-up comedian. In the swan-song of his career now but used to play to booked-out stadiums. - Bernard Quatermass was a fictional TV/movie character from the 1950s. He was a scientist whose team of companions went around saving London and the world from aliens. A precursor to Doctor Who. - Not really a fan of the aristocrat angry at daddy for making her a poor so she steals countries' history from public museums - Oh shit, you didn't know he stole the Tardis? Yep, right out of a Tardis repair shop on Gallifrey. Took the oldest, crappiest model he could find. - The Time Lords weren't destroyed until the 9th Doctor's season. Before that they would make occasional cameos and try to inflict their will on the Doctor. - Contrary to what the subtitles said, the Captain shouts "I don't believe it, guns that work" after the missile launcher took out one of the manta rays. - 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4. There's something really obvious that has a rhythm of four.

Ok, there's some subtext/cultural context going on with Miss Hartigan. If you've seen any version of Oliver Twist, a workhouse is where poor people, many of them children, were locked up and made to work during this time period, they were horrifically abusive, exploitative, and deadly, and Mercy Hartigan is the Matron of one of them, meaning she is a kind of supervisor, having gained the highest position of power she can, which is still very little. She has clearly been taken advantage of, and she mentioned at the funeral that those men at the funeral come into the workhouse and abuse the people there, she's NOT exactly all about worker solidarity, to her the children are there to be exploited for their labour, she's a victim of the system and a cog of it

Verdigree

Lol, Lady Christina de Souza. She’s a bit of a meme for having so much “Someone’s OC” energy, she’s incredibly extra, her stunt with the lucky cat is what messes up the heist, the guard looked over because of the squeaky arm movement!

Tintros

Great react. I remember watching these, for some reason they stand out. I thought Jackson would've been a good Doctor, nice energy, vibe, etc. and he could've been the Doctor from a few down the line... but nope. Still a good special tho. Planet of the Dead I found more disappointing, with the feel of it being 'small', and with Christina being a throw-away when at the time I remember thinking she'd have made a great companion. Different energy, daring and adventurous and physical where most of his companions aren't. Also could be more of a balance for him instead of it being as lopsided as it is with most of his companions. But again, nope, not to be. Great skittles hair, btw :)

Verdigree

Now, just to clarify, the Time War is something that happened after many decades of TV of the Doctor’s adventures, he stole the TARDIS before you ever meet him

T0m4002

2:07:09 oh it was long before the time war... it was basically a museum piece even then though

Joey Quixote

The time honored tradition of a new Doctor and new Companion being teased around the end of a run. The fandom awaits the announcement of a new Doctor being named in much the way the Pope is selected.

Bumblybeesknees

While Christina has great presence and charisma on screen, I think what they were trying to show with this episode is that a companion like her mirrors some of the Doctor's more destructive, chaotic, and arrogant characteristics. Like Morgan has mentioned all of the companions we have seen in NuWho have been people who are extremely empathetic. I'd say the Doctor needs someone who sees the trees in the forest so to speak. His mind is so full of information that he is almost always looking at the big picture, the large scale consequences of things... His companions remind him of the value of individual people and small victories. I think the most clear demonstration of Christina not quite fitting this need is how she is more concerned about the dead people dust being *in her hair* than the death of an entire civilization. Donna or Martha would have called him out for his gruesome fascination with the Aliens posed to destroy earth.. but Christina almost encouraged him.

Kristina Sullivan

I am biased when I say special #2 is my favorite because David says my name lol

Faroth

"he never stays for xmas!" Oh... Oh boi...
