Not a huge thing considering the rest of the episode, but I wonder if the note Caine leaves saying he's going out to get ingredients for the "milk and cigarette casserole" is a reference to the "dad said he was going out to buy [milk/cigarettes] and never came back" trope

Can't help but notice another biblical reference. "Scratch. The first Abstraction." "Old Scratch" is another name for The Devil. Also, someone had pointed out that there's a philosophical quandary called The Chinese Room argument. "The Chinese room argument holds that a computer executing a program cannot have a mind, understanding, or consciousness,[a] regardless of how intelligently or human-like the program may make the computer behave." Not sure how that pertains to what's going on here, but there might be something there. Jax's flashback... we cut from a neighborhood at night to backwoods roads at night... Was Jax abducted? And the childish nature of his room... That... has some very dark implications.

The implication that Abstraction isn't caused by emotional stress and is instead caused by Caine fucking with peoples heads and being unable to put them back to normal is uh... so fucking dark.

There's a theory that Jax ran over a child with his car. We see a few flashbacks of Jax's life when they're in the console room. Also jax's pink room. What makes it even worse for him is that he's a plush bunny.

Part of your theory made me think that because Jax was about to extract because Caine has been constantly messing with his mind. There’s a possibility that the other people who are extracted we’re going through the exact same thing as Jax because Jax constantly having his mind altered weather about being vegan or loosing his tail and maybe it’s slowly causing them to have a mental crisis of not being able to control themselves and that everything they’re living is a lie with basically no hope of leaving. This also makes me think that Pomni could have possibly abstracted many times due to watching GummieGoo get removed (Like Jax and Kinger losing someone close to them, Trying to find an exit like Kaufmo, or even in the first episode of Pomni almost abstracting by the doors if it wasn’t for Jax tapping her face similar to Pomni snapping Jax out with the doors knocking) I wonder if they are all getting close to abstracting because Caine is constantly wanting to modify them to stay.

To elaborate on The Chinese Room, imagine a sealed room where a non-Chinese speaking person sits surrounded by Chinese-to-English text and grammar dictionaries. They receive paper with Chinese characters written on it, and in turn they look them up in the dictionary and write the English translation and send it back. From the outside perspective they speak perfect Chinese, but in reality the person has no knowledge of what those Chinese symbols mean, they're just following some rules written in a book. It's a famous AI thought experiment that concludes that any AI that follows programmatic rules can never truly be judged to be self-aware. To apply that to TADC, no matter how personable or responsive Abel (or Cain) appear, you can never be really sure they aren't just a computer program mindlessly following a script rather than a thinking being who understands what you're going through. Several times we've seen the characters try and open up to Cain, only for a misplaced sentence or behavioural quirk to make them realise Cain hasn't understood a thing they've said and that connection they were forming turns to ash and leaves them feeling more alone than ever. It's also a very funny visual gag.

So adding or modifiying data on them is what starts the process of abstracting, yes, their metal health also triggers that but without modifications it nevers happens, and i think kinger have moderator protections so caine cant modify his data so thats why he never abstract The mental instability is a symptom of caine messing their data that goes and grows into abstraction the worse their mind gets
