FUNFACT: the reason RD has a tortoise pet is because HASBRO, not Lauren Faust, decided and had already merch in production without telling her, then they tell her and she needed to make an episode to "explain it" and she opted for the old pokemon saying: "every pokemon is someone's favorite for different reasons" int he context of, each pokemon have a fan that consider it its favorite and most of the times is not because is "good" at fighting but just because the person consider it nice or like it or even deeper reasons. So Lauren Faust pulled one like this here, making RD liked Tank even if has nothing to do with most of her personality except her loyalty even if it hasnt any of the other "requirements" she asked for a pet. PD: My favorite is murkrow, i use it in almost every game, and absol, i have an absol since emerald that i have been carrying around on each game that i can drag it, has all the contest ribbons and all other special ribbons and trophies you can get on each game.

I said this on Mosco's reaction to this ep, but I'll say it again: I feel like Dash doesn't really deserve to have the tortoise; she was so mean to him at every turn, and she only likes him at the end because he ''proved'' himself. That's not how you treat or pick pets, and I'm surprised Fluttershy was okay with everything, given she's the nurturing caretaker for all the prospective pets. Even AJ and Twi were more concerned with the care-and-nurture aspect than Flutter was. If you go into a shelter and start pitting the animals against each other to prove themselves to you, you're not getting an animal from that shelter. I feel like this episode sends a bad message to kids that animals have to earn your affection and care, rather than you picking them because you like them, and that you take on the responsibility of caring for them without them having to earn it.

Contrary to what most people say about this episode and it’s messaging, while yes I agree rainbows behaviour isn’t good in this episode, I believe the true message of this episode is that you shouldn’t choose a pet because of superficial reasons such as looking cool which personally I think is a lesson a lot of people could do with learning. I will also say that mlp has a strong focus on imperfections and that it’s okay to not be flawless and perfect as long as you learn and grow from your mistakes

My boys Sidekick and Boo (Sidekick sometimes has a similar face the Mar Mar). Sidekick found us, kind of like Marcy, seven years ago. Near as we could tell, he escaped from some neighbor who hoarded about fifteen cats and dogs in a small house, and didn’t neuter them. He was apparently only a couple months old when he kept following my mother until he stayed in our house. He claimed me as his human after I came home from college. He enjoys making biscuits on my belly and cuddles me in the winter. I connected with Boo when I spotted him at the Humane Society. My mother decided Sidekick needed a brother or sister, so we played with four different kittens. Mother wanted to take home one called Squirrel because she was bouncy, but I knew Sidekick wouldn’t approved, since he’s getting older and likes his space. Unlike like the other cats my mother and I played with, Boo was jumpy and scared in the playing area. Somehow, I connected with him, even though the name on his paperwork was Meow (real creative name for a cat, right?). After we adopted him, the little critter became spunky after the decompressing stage. He’s a purr machine and loves to play. Not surprised Mar Mar ate a snake, Sidekick caught one and dropped it in my room. It was only the size of the worm, but insane that he caught it. That’s amazing that she came to you. This episode is wild, the fact that a tortoise could burrow and then carry Rainbow Dash is insane.

This is my girl Myla. As you can see I was reading a book and she just decided to get up on the bed and cuddle up next to me. And I just couldn't resist taking this picture of her sweet sweet face. But yes I liked this one about Rainbow Dash getting a pet. And yes she kind of went about it in a turnaround way but hey tank is one of the best things that ever happened to her. And she totally turns into a pet mom with him. And the little helicopter thing he has is so cute.
