AwA Poster #2 - AwA at the Beach 🏖️ (Patreon)

Greetings, everyone! We’re thrilled to present the new AwA poster, featuring this stunning illustration by @larsclue! 💚

With this poster, we wanted to reinforce the idea that the AwA universe is fully connected by bringing several of our characters together in one big scene, all having fun and enjoying the sun! Since it’s summer on our side of the world, the beach felt like the perfect setting ☀️

We shared a few composition proposals with you, and option C ended up being the most-voted angle! 🤓

Lars then developed the chosen angle into this final composition, finding room for several different situations to unfold within the same scene. It the largest number of AwA characters we’ve ever brought together in a single illustration! Each little moment reflects the themes of their respective animations while highlighting the characters’ individual personalities.

The current framing already establishes a strong visual hierarchy, giving the eye a clear starting point and guiding it through the different moments in the scene. Notice how beautifully the compositional lines connect the characters, creating a sensual rhythm and a natural flow from one group to the next. From there, additional painting choices involving light, color, contrast, texture, and detail can further distinguish each group and strengthen the visual flow.

It is all about using contrast and variation to guide the viewer naturally through the scene, giving each moment room to breathe and be appreciated without everything competing for attention at once. ⚔️

This project has given us the privilege of collaborating closely with such a talented artist. Throughout the process, we worked with Lars to develop a shared visual direction, discuss different possibilities, and refine the direction of the painting together. Incorporating new perspectives, sensibilities, and artistic insights has been an incredibly valuable and rewarding experience.

We sincerely appreciate your patience. Projects like this can sometimes take longer as we navigate creative challenges and determine the best way to complete the piece. We are extremely happy and proud of the final result. Our deepest thanks to @larsclue for bringing this vision to life with such care and talent 💚

Expect more updates soon because we have more things coming :D
