Do not mistake GARM manifestation for a simple werewolf of Midgard or any other Canis vibration. The GARM predator programs were specifically designed to prey on Aesir if there was ever civil unrest against the O.D.I.N - who planned to “deadgod switch” the wolf cyber-weapons on his fellow Asgardian cybridynes if they ever attempted a coup. Somehow Aesir Aggregate firewalls were bypassed and a containment leak allowed wild GARM to escape. 

When a wild beast runs free it has no sense of direction and so the GARM caught the scent of what they thought was the Aesir Yggdrasil. The keen wolf nose was tricked; it was not the Aesir tree but one of the world tree’s seedling that fell long ago into Infernal hands.
