Back in the day this was an inspiration for a helms deep style comic where the savage driver ant hordes assault the Termite hive/castle. Heavy armored Termite knights make a suicide run while the builders seal off the tunnels. the Termite Knights have a 300 Spartan battle against the drivers. This was one of the main ideas for MANDIBLE and all the ant stuff.

I was actually thinking of making this a story pitch submission to Image comics at one time

The Other One

I remember this documentary! Man the termites looked like a river of flowing water around the queen when the chamber was sealed. It was and intense battle! This would have been awesome to see as a comic!

Wintermute

Loved watching documentaries like this when I was a kid. Was always mesmerized by how the ants would wage war on other creatures and even other raiding ant parties, it's pure bloodlust

Deimos

Ant colony documentaries plus Monster Bug Wars really stirred the imagination of a hyper-savage insect world.
