We damn ourselves with our own pollutions. But have, in turn, given birth to the next dominant race on Earth. And he is the first and greatest of his number, a Lord Steeped in Toxic Death, come to inherit and destroy our world, come to choke the last breath from our lungs.

Hedorah never really hit home for me. The design concept ran up hard against the limitations of special effects of the time-one of the few designs that could have been better as CGI. Still, your rendition is suitably eldritch and horrific, and the red tendrils are a great addition. :)

Unfortunately, I have to agree. While some aspects of the design are nice, I appreciate the slanted eyes and the noises he makes are fantastic, all of that was limited by suitmation, and we never got to see him really shine. Imagine tendrils growing out of his body at random, him generating a second head, the possibilities are endless if he ever shows up again!

Yeah, could have been like a kaiju-scale The Thing (John Carpenter version) made entirely of toxic substances, but honestly has a bit of potential for reboot/redesign, more than the rest of Godzilla's rogues gallery.

I have a soft spot for Godzilla vs. Hedorah as one of the Showa entries trying to return to the political roots of the original. The flashes of psychedelic song and Hedorah's various transformations still win me over, no matter how dated. Still shocking how prime Hedorah is for a big push now and still that hasn't happened.

Cool concept vs the ability to execute said concept. Requires understanding on its impact on the world and on the audience, as well as the technology to make it look good/impressive on screen. Hedorah was decades too early for the spotlight-I think it would actually be a good horror-movie antagonist now.
