I use to do dance recitals when I was around Olive's age, my mother refused to put makeup on me, I was so upset because all the other girls had full makeup done and their hair. But looking back as an adult I can see why. She wanted me to look like a kid. The dad making that ice cream comment was a quick way for Olive to developed an eating disorder (I am someone, that has recovered from one when I was younger, those comments just stick in your head and it becomes like an obsession, and then those other little girls were so thin it was just giving Olive a complex which I hate) I thought it was wholesome to see them encourage her to eat. I just don't like a bunch of grown people rating little girls, it's weird
