Captain Marvel (movie) only shows us how the Skrulls got to Earth in the first place (30 years ago). Captain Marvel takes place in 1995, in which they refer as “30 years ago,” so it is currently 2025/2026 in this show. The Skrulls are pretty much annoyed with Fury and Carol Danvers bc they promised to find the Skrulls a home and they have yet to do so. Plus, they both have abandoned the Skrulls. As we know, Nick Fury is a victim of the Blip and came back in Endgame. We learn in Spider-Man: Far From Home that the Skrull (Talos) took Fury’s place while he was “vacationing” in Space. After Far From Home, we literally don’t see Nick Fury appear in anything else. I think the last time we’ve seen The Skrulls was in one of the end-credit scenes of WandaVision where they recruited Monica Rambeau to Space. The point of the name of the show being “Secret Invasion” is that the Skrulls have been secretly invading Earth by initiating wars against other countries until the Skrulls are the only ones left so they finally have a home. In this episode, the goal was to start a war between Russia and the US with this bombing. I am also sad to Maria Hill go as she has been in this franchise from the beginning and dies because Fury is too hesitant to shoot Gravik!!!
