As Filip continued to attend therapy, his grip on reality got better. Previously ignored pile of mail staring at him every time he passed the front door finally caught his attention. They had a very toxic relationship. Over the months she grew judgmental while he brushed every complaint under the rug. Day after day, he walked through the door, ignoring her. Silent. So the first time he looked at her with a shadow of a remorse - she was speechless.Building up the courage to sit down and pick up the first letter took all of the energy out of him. He separated all of them into piles. Bills, ads, fliers, unknowns - just like his therapist suggested. The urge to start whatever other thing was so distracting. Anything would be better, he was even considering cleaning his sink rather than reading that damn pile of junk. -I'll read only two. No more.- He set a small goal just like the therapist suggested. But once he started it became less terrifying. He realized that some of them don't even need reading - crushing those into small balls made this whole experience a bit cathartic.

Hah same man same ^^ I wonder, does he have an avoidant attachment style?

Kiwi

Some days I feel just like that.

GoldenTar

He definitely has a dismissive-avoidant attachment style 😬

Mail is absolutely the worst. Is it a credit card scam or a massive medical bill? Dunno! They’re both stamped urgent!

PantherLion

Ah, yes... and the feeling spreads to other things as well... :(

Mail? I relate Fili 😔

Surrial

Just did this with my own stuff. Shredding old documents ended with 3 ikea bags of paper waste 👌 very satisfying!

This is actually a really comforting post :’) a fictional character is seriously urging me to follow through with therapy

GoldenTar

It brings me a lot of joy to hear that ; v ; /
