The first few episodes of both SHOGUN and FALLOUT are processing, and I'm taking this weekend to try to get everything fully caught up, just because the copyright screening/re-editing/re-exporting/re-uploading/re-screening process takes so long. Thank you for your patience!

Such a great episode. The Medal of Honor scene with the music is always so great to watch. They're definitely going back to pure misery next episode. I love this series, thank you for sharing your experience of it with us!

Brett Oliver

Yay new episode! Okay so this episode doesn’t show the true scope of time passed in Melbourne. Leckie and Co. were there for months and months, due to how worn out the marines were after Guadalcanal. In his book he describes him and his friends being in and out of the brig over this period of time for fighting, stealing vehicles, drunkenness, etc. Stella is also likely not a real person, in his book Leckie mentions a Sheila who he and Chuckler stayed with in Australia, Leckie doesn’t mention falling in love with or breaking up with Sheila so it was probably way more casual than the show depicts. Anyway glad to have gotten to watch your reaction to this and I’m sorry about the rest of the show because this is your one breath before being tossed back into the meat grinder again

"Getting booted into Intelligence for doing something dumb." Sounds about right to be honest, things haven't changed much lol

From what I’ve seen, I’m assuming you live in Southern California. If you’ve ever driven to San Diego, just before the San Onofre nuclear plant is Basilone Rd. Now you’re seeing the story of the man behind the road.

Victor

I think you made every face possible during the Leckie/Stella moments lol, but in all seriousness it’s a great episode, the start of Basilone dealing with the complex as you said is interesting..as is seeing how what happened in Australia shapes Leckie’s perspective of people around him moving forward.

Thanks for the heads up 😅 At least I'm mentally prepared!

Movie Night

Ah that makes sense! And I think I'm as prepared as I can be for the rest of the series, but I'm definitely bracing myself for a rough ride 😅

Movie Night

It's always strange to react to intimacy scenes 😂 But definitely a great breather, and setup for the rest of the series events and character growth. Mentally preparing as best I can!

Movie Night

I'll have to keep an eye out for it next time I drive down that way! Thank you for pointing it out!

John Basilone is one of those people who you hear about thats a Marine's marine. As is Chesty Puller, men who gave the corps that legacy. They are both played and portrayed excellently in this series.

Temujin

While many Australian troops were fighting in North Africa many thousands were fighting and dying this entire time in New Guinea. At first to stop the Japanese and then to slowly begin pushing them back. That is part of the resentment towards the Marines from Aussie troops.
