Firstly, thank you to everyone who's reached out in the past week or so. I've posted on IG and chatted about this a little bit on Discord, but to address it here...just over a week ago, we got a call that my grandmother was in Intensive Care, and likely only had a few days to live. We were on the first flight we could get to see her, and thankfully, we were able to say our goodbyes. But she passed away early last week, and it's been very strange coming home and trying to process it all. Today would've been her 90th birthday, and at a time when we'd prefer to be celebrating, we're all grieving her loss. I'm grateful that she went peacefully, and that I was able to have a few good moments with her, but it's painful to acknowledge that she's no longer in the world.

I know we've all had grief in our lives, and have to find our own ways to process it. I've gone back and forth between distracting myself and feeling the reality of things this week, and you guys--my incredible internet family--have been so kind and supportive, and I appreciate it so much. I've been editing the past few days, and will be fully back to my normal work schedule this week. I've been eager to get back to all the movies and shows on my list, but had to give myself time to be able to focus and react to them properly. I want to make sure I'm giving you guys worthwhile reactions, and me staring blankly at the screen probably wouldn't be enjoyable for anyone.

Alas, you all know that I'm a very emotional person--which is part of why I can do reactions here, but it does slow me down sometimes in real life. I'm just grateful I have a job and a community that I love, and that I genuinely always want to come back to.

I'll chat with you all soon, and can't wait to spend time with you here again!

All my love,

Jacqui

My sincere condolences, Jacqui. I'm so happy for you that you've had the opportunity to say goodbye. I'm thankful that with the family members I've had that have passed on, I had that chance, and I wish it for everyone. Take the time you need for yourself. Please remember, we don't subscribe because we love the movies...we subscribe because we enjoy YOU, and the joy and thoughts you have about them. So whatever you need to do to take care of yourself is what those of us who follow you want. Hopefully when you get back to all of this, you can be as whole as possible. Good luck with everything going forward, and take care of yourself!

Sincere condolences Jacqui; many years ago I watched my mother pass away and was so grateful to be able to spend her last moments with her, holding her hand. I remember the approach to grief at the time, that I tried to rush, and deeply regretted not centring myself first. I’ve enjoyed rewatching The Expanse with you reacting and I’m willing to wait until you’re ready to enjoy the process again. May your grandmother rest in peace.

Your grandmother's smile in that photo is contagious. Remember the great moments with her, the bad times, and the unremarkable times. Remember it all; celebrate her life and the time you shared with her. If you keep her in your heart and mind, she'll never be far away. Loss is different for everyone, but I've found that over time, the pain and sorrow of loss slowly transforms into bittersweet memories and, given enough time, transforms again into positive ones that you can laugh and joke about with others. Share those great memories with those around you. Allow yourself time to cry and be vulnerable; don't hold those feelings within, and ask for support from friends and family if necessary. Most importantly, take care of your mental health before worrying about us. I extend my heartfelt condolences. Take your time; come back whenever you're ready. ❤️❤️🩷🩷💜💜💙💙🩵🩵💚💚💛💛💛💛🩶🩶🤎🤎

Grief comes in waves and buries you beneath the water. At first the waves seem to come non-stop, over and over. As time goes on the waves don't really get smaller, but the space between the waves get larger. Eventually the spaces are so big between you don't notice the waves, and all you're left with is the calm and the gratitude that you got to know them. Take all the time you need underwater, grief is a natural part of loving someone.

My condolences for your loss, Jacqui. I know it’s hard losing a grandparent, my Papa passed away in 2011. Take the time you need, don’t rush back into work! If it’s any consolation, she got to see some amazing things in her life.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I also lost my grandmother earlier this year. I try every day not to mourn her death, but to celebrate her life. You and your family are in my thoughts.
