Yep, you're right about the no friction, no resistance, no slowing down argument :) : there was a number with Holden's speed at the bottom left, he didn't slow down, he just stopped accelerating and kept going at the speed he was at at this moment (going from 15k and a bit to just under 18k) :)

Ben Tiefenthaler

#ThingsSkyNetToldMe "Dandelion Sky" often symbolizes a whimsical and carefree moment in nature, where dandelions release their seeds into the air, representing hope and new beginnings against a bright blue sky. It can evoke feelings of nostalgia and the beauty of life's fleeting moments.

Granger Hermion

This episode and the powers that Clarissa uses are never well explained because there is no exposition or discussion about what is happening. The book goes into detail about what Clarissa does, how she got these powers, and the explanation of Dandelion Sky. The spoilers can be found on the internet (probably).

Yeah, Holden wouldn't "slow down" by cutting his thrusters, but he would stop accelerating. As long he stays below the "speed limit" of the "slow zone," he's fine. It's imprecise language, but when Miller is telling him to "slow down," what he means is "stop accelerating, stay below the speed limit." The bit about "monkeys and microwaves" was a longer discussion in the novel, as I understand. Basically, Miller trying to explain to Holden why humanity has had trouble grasping what the protomolecule is. Picture a bunch of monkeys fiddling with a microwave. One pushes the button that turns on the light, so to him, it's a lamp. One opens the door, and to him, it's a place to put stuff. Another burns his hand on it, and he thinks it's a weapon. None of them have the frame of reference to understand the totality of the object, and that it's purpose is really quite simple: a means to cook food.
