Subduction: a preposition that links two states such that one is a logical consequence of the other. No wait, that's Subjunction Subduction: a programming architecture in robotics where behaviours are modularized into separate tasks. No wait, that's Subsumption Subduction: the state of being under political control of another country or state. No wait, that's Subjection Subduction: a geological process where a tectonic plate descends below another, pushing that one upward and itself being recycled into the mantle. There we go!

I think this season is seriously underappreciated. the cinematography is incredible, and it's got a Western feel with the staredown scenes and some other aspects. Neat trivia about fake tattoos being reflective. I didn't think about that before, but it makes sense. real tattoos are embedded under your skin, so most reflection is from the top layers of skin above the ink. fake tattoos are just ink that sits on top of your skin, so they'd reflect light much more differently than normal skin. I was curious enough to check how my own tattoos behaved lol

The exchanges between Amos and Marty feel so much like a Clint Eastwood western. The stare down at dawn across the town square, Marty sitting in the dark behind Amos in the saloon before confronting him. Amos sitting down and taking Murties drink. Nothing else needed to be said, and Sergio Leonne would have left it silent. But luckily for us Amos had some more great dialog. As always I get so much more out of this great show from your comments and perspective. Cheers

Yes! I couldn't put my finger on it, but it was so Western, which feels very appropriate, considering the colony and the planet feel very "new frontier." Perfect stylistic choice for the season. And thank you! It means so much to be able to share the film love 😄

I hadn't originally put my finger on the Western feel, but you're so right! It's such a perfect stylistic choice for this season, since the settlement/planet feel very "new frontier." And I love that you checked on your own tattoos! It's obviously not a detail we hold against the production, but just a fun thing to notice 😄

Really noticed the background propaganda in all the Mars shots. Reminded of Starship Troopers single purpose of the people and government. At least it was as military is being downsized and the ring has opened up planets not needing to be terraformed so Mars is losing its importance

Yeah, they could have played Ecstasy of Gold in the scene where Amos and Murtry face each other across the town. I noticed this time, Amos finally gets Murtry's name right in the same moment that he says he knows exactly who Murtry is: a killer. Also noticed, in every scene showing tension between Amos and Murtry, it's Murtry who leaves the scene first - every time. Very Western Movie cue - Amos is solid and Murtry is slippery. Also, pretty funny that Jacqui couldn't remember his name after Amos spending most of this episode and the last calling him Murphy, Marty, Morty, etc.

The end of this episode recalls a very important line from Avasrala in S4E01: "Holden, do not put your dick in it. It's fucked enough already." Some fans hold that this line defines every storyline in the entire show. The other line that's often mentioned is... some spoilers that I thought we had already gotten past. my bad.
