Hey guys! I've been testing out vertical formats for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, etc. This is my favorite setup so far, so I wanted to post it here to see how everyone responded. My goal is to do at least one short per video posted on YouTube, and maybe go back and do some for previous videos, just to help drive traffic. Trying to finalize format so I can show editors what I want, etc. Thank you, and enjoy!

I think the format is pretty good (Really liked the popups), but it's a little hard to gauge because the video wasn't actually uploaded as a short so its vertical format on a horizontal screen. Not sure if there is a way around that for testing purposes though.

I was able to view it in vertical format by jumping over to actual YouTube, tho it took a moment to get the bottom info bracket to stop obscuring part of it. Once I got it to the right format it seemed solid

Thanks! I've tested watching it on my phone, so it works. And it is technically a short, but for whatever reason, it embeds in a full video. Probably because it's unlisted. More just "does the 'one segment of the episode' bit" work as a short. I've tried doing highlights/best moments, out of context reactions, etc. But I think just doing little one minute scenes like this is the best way to go.

Oh 100% the single scene is better. Highlights on a YouTube Short more often than not will make a person swipe away since they don't know what's going on.

Movie Night

I agree! This is the sort of "stand up comedian" approach, where they post individual jokes/bits from the special, and it drives traffic back to the full video. I'm still refining the actual elements on screen, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Thank you!

I like the layout, it's helpful how clearly you've shown the show and episode info. I tested it on my iPad via YouTube and it fits nicely on the screen.
