The Last of Us Episode 4 Full Length Reaction

Comments

Trey Porter

Just so u know, episode 5 comes out on HBO max early on Friday at 9. It's probably happening because they don't want to go head to head against the super bowl.

Not completely a breather as Kansas City/Pittsburgh is a very tense and action-filled portion of the story. But it’s a nice breather from the heavy emotional weight of the last episode. Looking forward to your reaction to the back half of the Kansas City events, as I don’t think they’ll spend three episodes on this part despite it being rife with great action scenes and conversations.

I do love the smell of hot brew coffee

Also loved the Jeffrey Pierce supporting role here. He was the voice for Tommy in the game and plays the second in command for the hunters in this episode.

Terry Yelmene

Another great reaction to an intense episode.

Loved the addition of Kathleen to the story. It really introduces the theme of the whole game in a much less subtle way, that being not your typical Good vs Evil storyline, but rather what IS good and what IS evil!! Joel and Ellie had a similar conversation in the game where she asks if Joel killed innocent people or not, but the addition of Kathleen's story really drives that theme home. Also, did you know that Gutsavo Santaolalla also did the music for the game? The main theme is the same, and his use of ambient music is also in the game. So glad he won the award for Outstanding Music Composition in a Series in 2023 for this. I saw someone mentioned that the actor who plays Perry was the original voice actor for Tommy in the game. Did anyone also mention that the Actor who plays Marlene was also the voice actor for Marlene in the game? We will also get appearances from Troy Baker (voice actor for Joel in the game) and Ashley Johnson (voice actor for Ellie in the game). It would have been criminal if those 3 didnt have a part in this TV series. You continue to impress me with all the little things you pick up on. You have even shown me some things that I have missed, and I consider myself a bit of an expert about the game and the show since I have played the game at least a dozen times, and I have watched the series around a half dozen times. If I were to offer any suggestion it would be this.......consider watching with the subtitles turned on. That way, there would be less of a chance that you might miss a detail while you are sharing your own thoughts. Not a criticism. Just a suggestion.

I know it's super late, but Jacqui - if you watch the "making of The Last of Us" video game, you get to see the composer who was used on both the game and show Gustavo Santaolalla. He is a master of using junk to make music. Like his studio has junk from antique malls and junkyards. Like there's one where he's just using a metal rod and rattling it between a spring from from a car suspension.
