Pulp Fiction Full Length Reaction

I've watched it half a dozen times while editing, and I still feel like I need to see it a few more times to fully take it all in.

You should watch Django then The Hateful 8

Movie Night

I've seen both, just weirdly never got around to Pulp Fiction 🤷🏼‍♀️ Doesn't make sense to me either.

Or maybe try Inglourious Basterds. Reservoir Dogs. Quetin's mind is one of a kind

Movie Night

Inglourious Basterds is actually one of my all time favorite movies, and I reference it a lot during this reaction, but I haven't seen Reservoir Dogs. I was going to watch it before this, but there was a lot of push for Pulp Fiction. I had to study Tarantino in school, so I actually have a running tally in the YouTube cut of how many times I say "that's so Quentin Tarantino" 😂

This is one of those movies that I’m actually shocked when people say they haven’t seen this film. But I’m glad you’re rectifying that because it’s his signature film I would say. I can be like one of those people where I won’t check something out because it’s been too long since it premiered. I get in the mindset that there must’ve been a reason I never saw it and I get stubborn about never getting around to it. I’m trying to be better about it. But I’m glad seeing other people having no hesitation checking out something they always meant to get around to. We all can’t be procrastinators. Lol

Movie Night

Honestly, that's a huge reason I started doing YouTube reactions in the first place...force myself to watch things I've been putting off 😂

The worst is I watch a few series out of order when I was just getting into film and film critique. Like I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark almost ten years after Temple of Doom. And Terminator I watched five years after 2. Alien like ten years after Alien, and the list goes on. You might just inspire me to cross a few more films off my to-do list.

Movie Night

I hope so! Also, I'm the same way. Weirdly, the only Indiana Jones movie I can remember watching growing up was The Last Crusade. I think I've seen Raider's of the Lost Ark once, and I really don't remember much besides the boulder and him saying "keep your eyes shut." I honestly don't even think I've seen Temple of Doom, and certainly not Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

I have an ex that would be upset that you have only seen Raiders. The whole Indiana Jones series is why she got into history, cultures, and languages so she could travel the world like Dr. Jones. I think that’s why I like films because I love that there’s entertainment out there that gets elevated to art. And that art inspires people to change their whole lives just to emulate somewhat of what that beloved film, show, or book showed to them. Like Pulp Fiction, I heard so many people want to get into filmmaking because they were so transfixed by how well done and yet retain that indie style this film was and puts across. And, yes, that Bible verse on the tombstone. was an in-joke to Pulp Fiction. Lol

Movie Night

I genuinely struggled doing a reaction to Pulp Fiction, just because my film student brain kicked in full force, and I felt like I had to watch it five more times before I could talk about it. That's part of why I've had a hard time with this format, is just because I don't believe you can understand and appreciate a film (particularly something like Pulp Fiction) on your first watch. I have a feeling this channel is going to morph into both reactions and discussions/deep analysis in the future.

I’m all here for deep dives. I love deconstruction and all that jazz. I never wanted to make films; I just wanted to watch and review them. My admission essay for film school was on how The Wizard was a film about the dissolution of the idea of a nuclear family in the modern world when everyone else saw it as a 90 minute commercial for Nintendo. Lol And, man, your talk about favorite shakes makes me want to have a coffee shake. I adore a good coffee shake.

Also, the funny thing about the first place trophy is that if you watch carefully there’s an advertisement later on in the film that the trophy was actually stolen. So they never won it at all. The ad is barely audible but you know how much the film has been studied frame by frame, it was bound to be discovered. Lol

The reason Mia had such a severe reaction is she tried snorting heroin, something you inject in small doses and not shove up a whole line of up your nose. By all accounts she should’ve died by taking that all at once.

mojo shivers

Yup. I’m sure that part scared straight more kids considering hardcore drug usage than any PSA or drug education class. Lol My last thought for the film is that I still love when Yolanda/Honey Bunny gets all flustered and is trying to cover Vincent and Jules but only has the one gun. She is literally holding a finger gun to Jules for a couple of seconds there and it cracks me up every time.

"It means the writer wrote it that way." Congratulations. Without realizing it, you spoke a truth you intended to deny.
