Not horrible but not great either. Barely even good, to be honest.

Blocking single-threaded applications is a tell-tale sign of a junior developer or, at least, one that has never coded in a particular framework before. But I digress..

Linuxfx is impressive for what it is. Yes, it's an Ubuntu flavor but it seems to be just one guy doing all of the work, and honestly, the important parts distro worked. We've all seen more ambitious Linux distros that manage to do way less.

I can't imagine anyone using this as their daily driver. It's an interesting idea or prototype but for something you'd install on your laptop or desktop computer, there are much better options out there.

While producing this one, I noticed in some videos I say "And look at this thing!" but there aren't visual queues showing what to look at unless I'm describing something specific.

I've been using zoom effects and arrows, what do you guys think about that? For example, when looking at networking, should I zoom in on the file manager instead?

Let me know!

Linuxfx Review | Distro Delves S2:Ep41

What is Linuxfx? Is it the same as Windowfx? Can you replace Windows 10 with it? Does it offer anything besides a Windows-style theme? Distro Delves is a series where I try out various Linux Distros (or other OSes) and give my thoughts about them at the end of the episode. Episodes aren't meant to be comprehensive; they are short informational & opinionated reviews from a desktop user's perspective! I think this looks like a pretty cool design concept myself. Making it look and function so similar to Windows just seems kinda cool in my opinion being done at such a level that they did on this. That said, I really enjoyed the look at this distro.

I can appreciate the effort they've gone into to make this look and feel like Windows but in reality if my requirements for Linux was to be as close to Windows as possible I'd probably just stay on Windows. Side note: Without reading the description you've put here I struggled to work out what your opinion on this actually was as it seemed to shift between good and not so good a few times throughout the video. Just a suggestion but maybe show some of these not so good aspects you point out (Such as the messy App Indicators) Still a great video regardless. I agree the arrows and zoom does help to show what you are referring to better.

Yeah, my ending thoughts were more about Linux "as a whole" rather Linuxfx.. I'll have to think about how to keep the outro more coherent and less whimsical 😂
