It's our monthly flashback to sexy, sunny Los Angeles in the '90s on another outrageous MELR0210!

First up on Beverly Hills, 90210, it's the ridiculous episode, "Destiny Rides Again." First airing on November 4, 1992, this episode has Donna and David considering having sex while they're publicly shamed by a priest in the adult section of a video store and Rosie O'Donnell on live television, the return of Dean Cain's Rick as he aggressively woos Brenda away from Dylan, Steve Sanders forcing his freshman buddy to commit computer crimes on his behalf, and Andrea being involved in a (hilarious, sorry) hit and run accident with a Mad Max car!

Then, up the street on Melrose Place, it's the whack-tacular episode, "Psycho-Therapy"! Premiering on April 20 (nice), 1994, this episode has Michael using Sydney's escort service to blackmail his boss into giving him a major promotion, Alison getting tricked into kind of dating her creep therapist, and Amanda convincing Jo to help her in the kidnapping and light torture of her pervert handyman, Ted!

MELR0210 is a WHM podcast where the guys blissfully stroll through the Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place timelines. The TV episodes covered will run in broadcast order.

Thanks so much for continuing to support the WHM Patreon! We know you have a lot of options when it comes to podcast entertainment and we're grateful you chose to spend some time with us. You're way cooler than Dylan McKay!Cover art by Felipe Sobreiro.

I pulled a Steve Sanders with AOL back in the 90's when I got our family account blocked. I called the support line and pretended to be my dad. Either I was that good or they didn't care and restored access!

The Stockton-Malone of making Brenda feel like shit... oh that killed me

MarkNM

Andrea getting hit by the car could only be improved if it turned into "Brandon Walsh's CRASH."

Busiris

I typically don't even watch these two shows before listening to the podcast (other than the one commentary you guys did very early on for Melro) but I decided to give them a watch this month and Brenda's fake French accent had me bowled over!!

G Goldhar

Andrew tracking down the fucking nexus Ribbon like Malcolm McDowell because it's the only place he can see Exit To Eden

Ray

I Know Who Killed Me... I very much remember. It was the first episode I sought out that somebody didn't recommend to me. Great episode.

Ray

Oh you're missing out. These shows are delightfully awful.

Tyler The Destroyer

To make a SLIGHT defense for Alison’s therapist I know many people who go to lunch/ have walks/ park benches with their therapists because the office doesn’t work for them and virtual doesn’t work either This dude is still a creepy fuck But food for thought lol

Busiris

It's very possible that I may have to make it a new monthly habit.

Mike Kling

I'm just waiting for Jake's brother to show up.

I actually have some insight into the XX vs XXX pornography thing. I have a friend who worked as a video editor for the Playboy channel (ask your grandparents about the Playboy channel) and he told me that XX is basically Skinemax: fully naked people thrusting away but none of the hardcore stuff. I also learned that many XX movies were just pre-existing XXX films that had had the hardcore elements edited out so they could be resold to Cinemax and the like. Glad this bit of ephemera I picked up could finally be of use

Lance Flexington

I don't know why it needs to be said but the Obama impressions are hilarious, as are the ones of Mr. Stupid. I'm genuinely upset at the need to self-censor what is clearly humorous because of the chuds.

Steve scamming a Mormon grandma for a religious idol amazing.

TJ Guiney

hearing that Exit to Eden is on y’all’s radar as a Stay Tuned made me fist pump, I’ve been requesting it for ages since seeing it super late on HBO once! fingers crossed it leaves streaming jail soon

I.C. Weiner

As someone who has in-laws in the Mormon cult: You did literally nothing wrong Steve. Fuck them.

Ok, as a person who took the SAT in 1989 (and made the mistake of dropping acid the day before, still managed a 1450 😬), I can 1000% guarantee that they checked my driver’s license first. Brandon’s BS storyline is way dumb.

We Hate Movies

Now this is the kind of info we hope to learn in the Patreon comments section. And actually, I think this is what I guessed! - Andrew

Information security grad student here: calling and pretending to be Mr. IBM to get a password is actually extremely effective given how common it is lol the statistics are a bit depressing. It’s social engineering so I count it as hacking, meaning Steve Sanders is technically an accomplished hacker. Also I was dying when Andrea got hit by the Death Proof guy and did the Family Guy death pose.

1 1/2 corrections: (cause you love those, correct?) Steve bought his "legacy-key" from the janitor, as did all those before him. (That's this guy's racket, selling master keys to little rich boys) Not really a correction, but if I remember it correctly, (not gonna go back to check for sure) didn't the twins get the same score the last time, they took the SATs? Which would mean Brenda now has the higher score. Of course Brandon is going to be a stinker about it. (Although it is possible, that I'm giving the show to much credit for continuity here) Also, hilarious. The show that is.

Alex Murica

I need to hear more about Steve doing Better Call Saul style scams on the religious lol

D Arthur

If you believe 90’s salon chatter, next week’s Melro was a seismic cultural event on par with Luke & Laura & Who Shot JR? I hope ya’ll treat it w/ the reverence it deserves 😏

Erin Hardy

I watched 90210's early seasons when they aired but never in syndication, so all of my memories are foggy. As soon as you mentioned a black teenager with a crappy ponytail I wondered whether it was the same black actor who rocked a crappy ponytail in "A Different World" and it 100% was. That was a bad decision Cory Tyler was making for himself, but he totally had that market cornered so I guess it worked out. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Rowdy rowdy peeeeeeper
