On this edition of the Gleep Glossary, the guys learn all about their beloved "Conehead Guy" Jedi Master, Ki-Adi-Mundi!

Was Ki brought onto the Jedi Council without having enough experience beforehand? How much did Ki absolutely despise Qui-Gon Jinn? How embarrassing was it for Ki to be totally wrong about the Sith being extinct? Why would a person get upset on the internet because a TV show got a birthday wrong? And boy, oh boy, did Ki-Adi-Mundi ever get caught with his conehead pants down during Order 66! PLUS: Our recap on the (pretty good!) first season of The Acolyte!

Gleep Glossary: A Star Wars Story is a show where the guys try to honor the history and legacy of Star Wars characters, most of whom we've been told don't matter anymore!

Thank you for being so incredible by continuing to support this weird, wild adventure we're on! You make this all possible! We know you have lots of options when choosing which pods you listen to and we very much appreciate you carving out some time for us!

I also found the time setting really interesting; if it is 100 yrs before Vader, and the Jedi ruled for a couple thousand yrs, this downfall and corruption of the Jedi in their last years of power is a welcome addition to the lore in my opinion. You are all right! People should stop being so precious about rules in a space fantasy not even set in our own galaxy. Love the show, cheers boys

John Locke

Two months ago this entry would have been much different. But know you have to talk about what a corrupt liar he was. Or how he got brain damage and forgot about the smiley Sith and the witches and all of the recent threats that he forgot about in the prequels.

James C Harris

Now I just want Walter Matthau as Boba Fett

Tim Batson

Toxic fandom: "The made-up fake thing didn't do MY version of made-up fake things in the made-up fake thing!!!"

Matt

George Lucas voice: "Get a life"

John Locke

I loved that TV show, too.

Rose Esposito

Any kind soul wanna give me a timestamp for when the Acolyte chat finishes? I haven't started the series yet, but I might!!

Vicky I

Around 32:30, I think

Nathan Lemire

Also, pro move; cry in the shower...

Jason

Kelnac, Kelnoc, Kelnacca-gonna-work-here-no-more-am-I-right?

John Edwards

I get the impression that the age controversy is less about a number changing directly and more that a "woke" show is the one doing the changing. I can't imagine Ki-Adi-Mundi's birthday showing up on a computer screen in Andor would create this same level of vitriol.

Lance Flexington

I really appreciate your nuanced and level-headed discussion about Acolyte. I agree most with Steve though since where does the next season go from here since there's no characters left

Ray

Y'all gotta do a yaddle deep dive. She's fascinating

Nathan Lemire

Yo, Eric- I like your style. I have a great writing idea that involves R2 and Chewy (my 2 favorite people); After all this current shit R2 and Chewy seek their fortune, fame, and REVENGE. If it's comics I think some cool visuals with reg script below; neither speak common. I think this will be fun. I'm from NH, I'm a top patron, I'll tip u

Nathan Lemire

How's these SW ideas work now anyways? Perpetuity? I'm going out for drags at Bunta I don't have time for this.

Busiris

Practically everything you guys said about The Acolyte is 1:1 my opinion as well. I ended up liking it more than I expected because I've been mostly fatigued with SW shows. It took a few episodes but I was definitely all in once we started getting those few fight scenes. I think it really helped that they got a fresh take with a new fight chorographer that was inspired by Asian action cinema. I genuinely do not understand how so many people thrive off of just spewing hatred at every single new Star Wars thing and I'm glad you guys keep cool calm and collected about it.

Todd B

I mean, the idea of Jedi being shameless liars isn't anything new. In fact, thanks to the Prequels, Lucas basically made it so Luke was taught by two Jedi who lied to his face repeatedly to cover up the fact they utterly beefed things with his father (and 'a certain point of view' only excuses just so much of that, Kenobi.)

Milan Davidek

On a positive note, with that Terminator 4k release, you will get a better view of that floppy dong though 🤔

Paul

Should I share my thoughts about “The Acolyte”? 🤔 Nope. 🤐

MikeyMiniMoto

Alec Guinness had a great “get a life” moment with a Star Wars fan (“I just hope the lad, now in his thirties, is not living in a fantasy world of second hand, childish banalities.") But you can’t top Harrison Ford’s “I have no f***ing idea what a Force ghost is. And I don’t care”. Absolute kings among dorks.

Dan sulin

Glad to hear you guys sorta liked Acolyte. I’ve been kinda burned out on Star Wars Disney+ content but it sounds like this would be a fun watch

Tristan

Great pod. I will share my Acolyte thoughts on the more reactionary. WHM subreddit.

Scmods

As an aroace person, props to Chris for shouting out my people

Ray

They were right.

Andrew Dean

Just wanted to shout out the new Hooked on TJ Hooker - it’s the slickest and most professional episode yet

Smaug

Some people say we live in the worst timeline, but in this timeline we have a thoughtful, inclusive WHM crew. Surely the worst timeline would have the reactionary anti-woke versions of the crew discussed in the ep, the crew where Steve shows up to live shows wearing Star Woke: The Empire is Broke shirts (saw that one at a screening of Empire in May)

Hunter Urey

I liked this show better when it was a movie called the phantom menace 😂

Mr. Nobody

Last Jedi and Acolyte were both influenced by the prequels, which have way more shades of grey for the jedi and the sith than the original trilogy does
