While we know you awesome Ad-Free subscribers at the $8 level and up already have access to this episode on Jurassic World, we did record a new summer vacation intro for it, so we figured if you fine folks wanted to check that version out, we'd put the ep right here at the top of your Patreon queues— enjoy revisiting this one, or possibly listening for the first time!Originally released on Patreon: June 14, 2018

“It’s bigger and it’s stupider!” -  Steve on this vs. Jurassic Park

On this WHM Prime bonus episode, the gang gets Dino Fever with the first of two JPU films being discussed this month*: Jurassic World! Was that statue of John Hammond actually his corpse mummified under flash-baked dino poo? Did Claire and Owen have their first date on that cursed island? And why didn't BD Wong get a bigger role as the villain? PLUS: Militarized dinosaurs—Question Mark?

Jurassic World stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt, Vincent D'Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, BD Wong, Judy Greer and Lauren Lapkus as Vivian; directed by Colin Trevorrow.

*EDITOR’S NOTE: In 2018, the other JPU film was Jurassic Park III, discussed on We Hate Movies, Episode #363Make the WHM Merch Store your one-stop shop for all your We Hate Movies merch-related needs! Including new Bus Movie, Night Vision & Too Old For This Shit designs!

I was just listening to old eps the other day! The 'A New Hope' episode is a HoF piece of comedy in my opinion. I was looking forward to diving into more oldies when this dropped. Feeling nostalgic with my oldest daughter starting 3rd grade next week. I used to listen to you guys when she was a newborn and I would take her for walks in her stroller just to stay awake. Thanks for the years of amazing content.

We Hate Movies

We've still got a couple movie unlocks coming over the next few weeks, so there are a few more movie unlocks that could bring back some nostalgia! - Andrew

Marshall

This is the episode when Steve introduces his movie sequel law!

Jason

Eric pulls out a huge boom box. Turns on "Long Tall Sally". Places a massive wad of chew in his mouth and stares down Andrew, Chris, and Steve: "This stuff will make you a god damned sexual szyszkasaurus, just like me!"

Tim Batson

The Squid Game writers definitely listened to this episode when it first came out.

MarkNM

This episode could have just been Steve rapping dinosaur-related lyrics over the rest of you beatboxing, and it would still be better than the movie. Although it IS hilarious when the park owner eats shit.

Jaime Lee Ezell

“Chris Cabin, the first to bring up Zoo” 😆

jribs

Senator Sajdak cares about the American working man because that’s who he is and that’s who he cares about.

Dave

This episode is like a time capsule into an almost unrecognizable, more hopeful time. Pre pandemic, and more importantly, pre JJ Abrams crashing and burning the Star Wars movie franchise

KRAS22

it's so funny because I'm going through old episodes and I'm in the 2018's right now and purposely skipped this episode. the universe works in mysterious ways

Max Jackson

I know this isn't the episode, but I still think of "Bend-overs" regularly

Eren Keskin

Blue should get a restraining order against Chris Pratt. Dude is way too handsy.

Trev Herron

Man this is a movie that gets worse and worse in my mind with each year since it came out. As a massive stan of the book and the first movie I think the only way you can do a movie like this is by making it so that the park has become more like Westworld, a place of futuristic exploitation where the park's "assets" have to be increasingly farmed for more profit. I think that because these movies are now implicitly ads for Universal theme parks they CAN'T depict the park in a negative light or take any kind of serious stance beyond Clair's Save The Whales crap in the last two. That's why JW itself seems like a happy place packed with guests who love dinosaurs even though we're supposed to believe none of them care anymore.

Lar

Haven’t listened to this since it came out but idk how y’all predicted the plots of mcu Spider-Man homecoming and far from home. Y’all too good at this. (I don’t remember what episode you brought up holograms and Spider-Man but that ended up being the plot to far from home, and then here saying iron man being in Spider-Man 6 so much) This is also fun for your Star Wars talk when I know how that went. Fun stuff.

Elena Tenn

Me no longer drinking Dr. Pepper even tho it used to be my fav listening to this ep: “now that’s a name I’ve not heard in a long time…”

Scmods

Statements that aged poorly: * JJ Abrams might make a good final Star Wars movie (which even upfront they’re all like “oof mistake”) * Calling 2018 a hellscape. Oh boys you have no idea what's coming * A dinosaur human hybrid being a potentially good movie. Then Fallen Kingdom came along. Though admittedly an actual half human half dinosaur could be something. Statements that aged surprisingly well: * Comparing Armie Hammer to a T-Rex

Matthew Taylor

The origin of Steve’s sequel legislation!

Rose Esposito

I love this one. RIP Zara, you were a childfree queen who deserved better than that horrible, if hilarious, death. Right after relistening I had to go back to the episode for the following movie (Failin' Kingdumb!), which contains one of my fave-ever Steve moments: "So this basement is filling with what we're told is hydrogen cyanide--" "GOOD!!!!!!!"

Paul

Summer’s almost over. It’s nearly time for the WHM boys to go back to school (which means new eps for us).

Greg Vann

On the did people eat dinos yet...I've been saying this for 3 movies now! I totally want a eat them before they eat us sequel that would be the true result of all this nonsense. One dino can feed a town

Danny Brown

It’s amazing that sometimes when riffing you predict a little bit of the future. I laughed so hard when they all went into bringing back non-characters. “Why not bring back Dodgson?! He survived! They…will…care.” Be careful what you wish for, they did exactly that in the atrocious third “world” movie! Outrageous!

Tala Hobballah

I think Steve has a point. Remember when Colin Treverrow compared one of the Raptors to the Joker?

Massey and Graham

Just visualized Sam Jackson force ghost wearing Mace Windu clothing but with Arnold glasses, hair and cigarette

William K. Wolfrum

I saw "Saving Private Ryan" at the Zeigfeld. The opening was like a religious experience.

Will See

Did we ever get that through congress?

We Hate Movies

That rules. Fantastic movie to catch there! RIP! - Andrew

Kureigu

Funny how they talk about bringing Dodson back and that's where these sequels end up lol
