Oooooooh, doctor, it's the August edition of our primetime soap opera recap show, MELR0210!

First up on Beverly Hills, 90210, it's the outrageous, pseudo-softcore porn setup episode, "Wild Horses"! Originally airing November 18, 1992, this episode features Steve Sanders starting to really sweat it over the school computer hack; Nikki and Brandon fighting over her ex-boyfriend, who goes by Diesel and is played by David Arquette; David Silver totally tanking a music showcase and being humiliated by Steve Sanders once again; and Dylan finding himself in a softcore porno situation with Alice Krige, rich, sexy horse owner!

Then, across town on Melrose Place, it's the outrageous episode, "Imperfect Strangers," which originally aired on May 4, 1994. This episode features Amanda going around Alison to hire her mother's mimbo, Chas, as Amanda's new department co-worker; Sydney dealing with her old boss, Madam Lauren, getting out of jail and threatening her with a middle-aged, Polish hit-man; Kimberly setting up some kind of dastardly scheme that even Michael isn't aware of; and Jo and Jake helping out Models Inc.'s Sarah with a domestic abuse problem, and Amanda gets jealous over it!

MELR0210 is a WHM podcast where the guys blissfully stroll through the Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place timelines. The TV episodes covered will run in broadcast order.

Thanks so much for continuing to support the WHM Patreon! We know you have a lot of options when it comes to podcast entertainment and we're grateful you chose to spend some time with us. You're way cooler than Dylan McKay!Cover art by Felipe Sobreiro.

So Alice Krige's career highlights in the '90s consisted of the Borg Queen and... like, a horny Norma Desmond? Pretty good if you ask me.

Just wanted to take a moment and thank The Gang for glorious episode descriptions such as these. These Melro eps sound like complete clustercusses.

Hay, at least it's a stable relationship. . . I'll see myself out

Eren Keskin

"Is Mel Gibson available?" YIKES

Kuato (and the freedom brigade)

This episode of 90210 is totally the james running away from Twin Peaks episodes of that show... except it's a 50s Porsche spyder instead of a 50s Harley

Busiris

Oh man, the bit with Marvin Schwarz talking to David Arquette about his career is a real highlight of this episode of the podcast. XD

I’m just worried that that older boy Chazz might be a bad influence on Eric.

I needed patented WHM Patrick Stewart impression telling Dylan that resistance is futile and tastes entering a world of sensual delights most men dare dream of. And now you’ve got your Star Trek and Seinfeld references in at the same time

Scott Ferris

Rofflecopter. I knew they were goons.

Milan Davidek

Am I the only one who, thanks to this show, finds themselves saying “BA-GOH!” and “HAW!” unintentionally in their day to day lives? They’re part of my vernacular now

Did this MP script seem particularly awful? Example: Chas starts tomorrow. Alison: “Nothing like jumping right in.” What the fuck? That is not language. It communicates no thoughts. I’ll admit this is petty, but it stood out to me for some reason. Yes. Alison as a character is a stupid person. But with that line Alison doesn’t look stupid. The writer looks stupid, because they don’t understand it’s excruciating when a “stupid” character recites bad dialogue. Real stupid people don’t talk like this. In fact… they don’t even think they are stupid! They think they have something to say and others should hear it! The writer was going for “you are a novice learning to swim in the deep end” Alison could have awkwardly said “look at you, diving head first into the lake on the first day of summer camp.” Chas could have a rejoinder: “I would hardly say it’s my first anything. And I didn’t go to summer camp. A little too … non-gentile for my taste.” Alison would have looked dumb, and, bonus, we get a look see at Chas’ overt anti-Semitism.

3 different Soundgarden posters in the same room seems like a lot

When this first started I was like “wait wasn’t there already a plot line exactly like this?” And then I realized I was thinking of twin peaks. Haha. Oops.

The lady at the dinner table with Dylan and Annnnnnne was on a previous 90210 episode. She was on the board of education and voted against condoms in schools and gives a little nod to Donna’s mom

Ray

At the beginning of this season, Jake owned a bike shop.

Ray

I've read this like three times, I'm just surprised this is the only line that bothered you.

lol. It just struck me as needlessly lazy. If I were to describe all the terrible lines I could literally write for the rest of my life

Alice Krige's earliest performance I can remember is Ghost Story. While the Peter Straub novel is much better than the movie, Fred Astair and John Houseman playing off each other is worth it, and Krige is lovely and creepy.
