“It’s a white-trash version of one of your favorite horror movies” - Andrew

On this week’s episode, our Halloween horror movie marathon is just getting started as we chat about the 2007 Rob Zombie remake, Halloween! Why are we taking an hour to get adult Michael back to Haddonfield? How great is younger Loomis’s hair? Couldn’t we have gotten a bit more Brad Dourif peppered throughout the picture? Is the sequel to this an “I Got It, By The Way” situation? And does this movie smell like pee? PLUS: Stay tuned for Rob Zombie’s Uncle Buck, with John Candy as The Shape!

Halloween stars Malcolm McDowell, Sheri Moon Zombie, William Forsythe, Scout Taylor-Compton, Brad Dourif, Danielle Harris, Hanna Hall, Bill Moseley, Daeg French, Kristina Klebe, Danny Trejo, Ken Foree, Udo Kier, Sig Haig, Daniel Roebuck, Clint Howard, and Tyler Mane as Michael Myers; directed by Rob Zombie.

I'm into this Boston Massacre by a man dressed in clam outfit movie 😆

Watch_N_Rewatch

Does this movie smell like pee actually killed me lmao goodnight all, can't wait to listen to this in the morn

Adam Ray

I was going to listen to this without watching the movie but immediately following Sajdak's first words I said "Nope. I'm going to have to watch this one".

Jonathan Lyons

My favorite fun fact about this movie is that this is the TONED DOWN version of what the original script was.

Geoff Gershon

I love the guys at WHM but this was definitely one of THE rougher watches endured exclusively FOR this podcast. 😖 Such a grody movie! Even Dunston Checks In was better....

Busiris

Hoping to throw out the ol' "it's okay to not like a movie" about the 2009 Halloween II because I'm definitely not a fan, haha. I will say the one good thing going for this movie is just how jam-packed it is with character actor cameos. Just browsing the cast list surprised me!

Evan

Anyone else notice the guys seem to have "Cotton Eyed Joe" on the brain recently 😅

Sara Syd

Oh Christopher

Tony King

I am so glad I will never have to watch this movie again. It was excruciating, and I'm glad most of the guys agree (oh, contrarian Cabin 🙂).

WarOfTheBees

I'll go to bat for Chris Cabin: I like Halloween 2007. The trashiness is the strength of this movie. Michael Myers definitely would have come from a family like that.

WarOfTheBees

Also, I will spend whatever you guys charge for a coffee mug with "Don't skull fuck me until I've had my coffee!" on it without a second thought so...just saying.

MarkNM

So this is the HellWiliiam version?

Jethro Gulner

Halloween 2007: Hats all the way down

Matt

Me in 2007 sitting in a theater mumbling "this piece of shit" through gritted teeth. When I saw the boys were doing this, I thought "you know I should rewatch it, I bet it's not as bad as I remember and I was just a cynical idiot" Cut to me on my couch last week mumbling "this piece of shit" through gritted teeth. It's okay to like a movie! But I did NOT like this one.

MarkNM

There's 13 of these movies, and they've been falling short of the first one ever since the second one. This one is no worse than...uh, three of the others. It's fine. The sequel is better.

Jason

You ever think how depressed Rob Zombie was when those tiny, black straw cowboy hats went out of style?

Matt

Now on too the important stuff - Andrew what's your go-to Mai Tai recipe?

Jon Corra

I had to stop the podcast. I’ve never seen this version of Halloween, and after Andrew’s description, I want to watch it before I listen. I love a hot mess.

Sophie Brown

I rewatched this last year and it was almost worse than I remembered. I hate this movie 😭

MarkNM

The sequel takes place in Manhattan!

Kyle N.

Just an utterly miserable movie. It's hard to get through but not for any of the reasons RZ probably intended. I wanted to watch this movie with a nice fall breeze going through my house but quickly realized I would need to shut my windows so my neighbors would be able to look me on the eye again. One of the worst Halloweens by a mile.

James R.

You guys have convinced me to watch Zombie’s Halloween II just to see how it could possibly be decent. I hope you’re proud of yourselves! (This movie stinks)

JK

I think we've got a Hall of Fame episode on our hands

Tala Hobballah

Unexpectedly, my first watch was the Director's cut which includes a graphic gang rape scene so that really sucked.

James C Harris

Andrew: What the hell is Mickey Dolenz doing in hete? Steve: The check cleared you see

Tala Hobballah

A Sister Sister throwback I fucking love y'all

Elliott Tipton

I only made it half way through, since theaters. This movie sucks a fat one.

mark mastrogiovanni

Here is the google summary of the largest burger at Heart Attack Grill. The Heart Attack Grill's biggest burger is the Octuple Bypass Burger, which contains approximately 19,900 to 20,000 calories. It includes eight beef patties, 40 slices of bacon, 16 slices of cheese, chili, tomatoes, onion, and is slathered in lard. The challenge is to finish it all, or risk being spanked by a staff member, and finishing it is a significant feat, with the world record being under 8 minutes. Diners also put on hospital gowns before entering, pure insanity.

Sophie Brown

I wonder if my studio will let me make a mug that says "Don't threaten to skull fuck me until I've had my coffee"

Watch_N_Rewatch

Szyszka was right on the money, woof ... I saw this movie in theaters, then proceeded to buy it on Blu-ray, what was I thinking?! Need to wash this doo doo movie experience out of my brain, Prince of Darkness sounds good tonight 😎

Mark D Myers

Guys your clam headed with peal eyes monster idea was kinda done in the Power Rangers episode oyster stew but as a actual sea monster.

Mark D Myers

I know right? The only more random weird Al cameo is in Batman vs Robin.

Busiris

Oh man, I'd forgotten about that cameo, haha.

Oscar Gutierrez

I think it's actually quite difficult these days to find the theatrical version of Zombie's Halloween.

Kevin Lynch

The best empty pool kill is In ‘Massacre at Central High’

D Metcalf

He actually is Megan Traynor’s husband

Dawn Elicia

I have a question as someone who doesn’t watch horror movies but I listen to spooktacular. Can someone please tell me the name of the movies in the introduction.

Tim O'

We all go a little mad sometimes - Psycho You know it's Halloween - Halloween '78 Sometimes dead is better - Pet Sematary Zombies have entered the building - Zombi 2 It is time to keep your appointment with the Wicker Man - The Wicker Man '73 They're coming to get you, Barbara - Night of the Living Dead Movies don't create psychos - Scream Put the fucking lotion in the basket - Silence of the Lambs What an excellent day for an exorcism - The Exorcist

I.C. Weiner

Were you a teenager or in your early 20s by any chance? If so, your brain wasn't fully developed and you probably thought this movie was *HARDCORE*

I.C. Weiner

Eat an entire week's worth of calories in 8 minutes, what could go wrong?

Sonya Ballantyne

Every time they mention "a California cheeseburger", I cackle. What a Simpsons deepcut. I also laughed my ass off when Chris says, "It's a New York Times seller"

Watch_N_Rewatch

Lmao dude I was 19! You're absolutely right, and the drinking buddies I saw the movie in theaters with definitely had the *HARDCORE* mentality 🤣

Cait

Hey I know this isn’t relevant but am I crazy or did they recently post a Barbarian episode? I cannot find it and feel like I’m going crazy

Watch_N_Rewatch

Hey Caitlin, it's totally relevant due to how bad I want to listen to it & you're not crazy, but the dispatch says October 29th for the scaredy cats: Barbarian EP release on the Craven *not Kraven* tier

jribs

I’m gonna steal saying something did a 190’’

Hard To Gwil

I'm a rather large fan of trash movies, (I'm currently wearing a Street Trash shirt) but this movie is unforgivable. Sexualizing violence to this degree is just gross. to me, I dunno. I appreciate dicks and boobs as much as the next guy or gal, but dragging a topless, screaming woman across the floor while she's covered in blood just to showcase her boobs one more time.... C'Mon Robert

shinsvark

This was a fantastic episode. I went to high school with the actor who played young Michael Myers in this so I've always felt a small connection to this film. Maybe I should actually watch it after all these years...

Dawn Elicia

Thank you I had been wondering. I really appreciate you answering me. I recognize Elieen Brennan voice but I though I was hearing Kevin bacon voice but the quote is from scream and I searched and they say it’s he’s not in it.

Christopher Oxentine

I'm not a fan of this movie at all, but it's significantly better than RZH2. That is a movie I despise.

caleb arendt

For some reason, I don't think Eric particularly enjoyed this movie.

hexum311add

So funny hearing Eric bristle at the lewdness of this movie when his e tire comedy approach is saying dick jokes
