“I think the first time I watched it, I kept expecting Meryl Streep to be the Devil!” - Steve

On this week’s episode, the gang welcomes back Chelsea Jupin to chat about the totally enjoyable, perfect-to-watch-on-an-airplane sensation, The Devil Wears Prada!

Just on the heels of the sequel releasing, we look back at the film that paved the way for the next act of Meryl’s career, features one of the best Stanley Tucci performances of all time, gave the Mentalist something to do, introduced a larger audience to the coffee house vibes of KT Tunstall, and even tried to pull the old Hollywood “isn’t Anne Hathaway a dog?” trick—fooling absolutely no one, by the way. PLUS: Miranda Priestley gifts Bane a stylish new breathing apparatus!

The Devil Wears Prada stars Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt, Simon Baker, Adrien Grenier, Tracie Toms, Rich Sommer, Daniel Sunjata, David Marshall Grant, Tibor Feldman, James Naughton, Gisele Bündchen, Stephanie Szostak, John Rothman, and Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly; directed by David Frankel.

First Hunger Games, now this? I feel personally attacked by the WHM selections lol

Scmods

Is it my Bluetooth playing up or is Andrew and Chelsea’s audio choppy on this?

Ray

The movie "gave the Mentalist something to do" is sending me lol

Ray

It's not just you.

Ray

They don't always actually hate the movie haha.

Craig

Whenever I hear Anne Hathaway’s name, all I can think of is an old guy I used to work with who saw her face on a magazine in the office and remarked: “Anne Hathaway? Well, she can hath-her-way with me anytime!”

TJ Gaines

“In the year 2000….. In the year 2000….”

MarkNM

Steve, I also have some bad news about the movie "She-Devil."

Scott Plackemeier

Stanley Tucci's character was from Rhode Island. Not the Midwest.

Smaug

Similar to Steve, I confused this movie with Bedazzled. The first time I watched this, I kept thinking "so is Meryl Streep the devil?"

We Hate Movies

There was some issue with the cloud recording on this one, it's not you. - Andrew

Lisa

Hey guys wasn't sure if you listen to the episodes but I think there was something wrong with Andrew and Chelsea's microphone. It would cut out in tiny snippets. Just wanted to let you know. Love the pod!

Rose Esposito

Chelsea always coming in with the relevant celebrity hot goss...she's just like me fr 🥰🥰 (Tom Brady cheated on a *pregnant* Bridget Moynahan with Gisele. smh.) btw please have me on Cat Murders. please please. That's my entire personality right there.

Scmods

I don’t need new headphones then, excellent. Episode is still perfectly listenable and enjoyable so no concerns there.

RJ Cunningham

Literally didn’t even notice. Also Chelsea always does a really excellent job when she’s on

Lisa Mette

Meryl was in a movie She Devil opposite Rosanne and Ed Begley Jr. I think that was my introduction to Meryl; but her acting in this comedy was HILARIOUS! Honestly the movie should be a stay tuned.

James Fetterhoff

Eric! Lol plz look at the WHM AD FREE CHAT I found a vynil in my crap that looks like an ugly version of you.

Todd B

Since it was touched on it here - anyone else find it incredibly weird/unsettling that the aughts gave us three major CGI talking bug movies that all wound up having a noted sex creep in their voice cast? That is some really grim 'What are the odds?' right there.

Dawn Elicia

Yes finally you are doing an event I can attended. I’m so excited I live in Las Vegas and I love going to the Star Trek convention.

Alex

I work in fashion and I finished my write up on the Met Gala and then clicked play on this so I can pretend fashion was invented by movies

Robert

I was shocked to learn that this director also directed the two best episodes of Band of Brothers

Eren Keskin

Miranda is me looking at Trump’s ill-fitting Brioni suits

Matthew Lazorwitz

Steve, I too believed there was something demonic in this book. Someone recommended I should read it, and as a guy who reads mostly sci-fi, fantasy, and horror, I figured the only reason it would have been recommended to me was because it was horror. I... was wrong.

Lazar Jones

I love most WHM bits, but I think my favorites are the mundane abstractions, like holidays with Stan Tucci and John Krasinski.

Joseph Xavier

"I didn't tell you to get an abortion!" Had me laughing my ass off as I walked to work, very difficult to explain to a colleague that noticed me convulsing!

DMAC

I mean Anne Hathaway was disgusting at the start of this movie, she has glasses, and a pony tail at some point (maybe). All she is missing is paint covered overalls.

Miranda Cross

I would LOVE it if The Sweetest Thing made its way into the Stay Tuned list! The guys have definitely mentioned it once before, but didn’t seem at all interested… thank you, Chelsea, for planting that seed!

Busiris

The story about Andrew and Chelsea witnessing some girl reading the last Harry Potter book out loud on the subway brought back memories instantly of my first office job 15 or so years ago. I had a co-worker who was so obsessed with those books/movies that she would celebrate Harry's birthday - I'm talking full-blown decorating her cubicle with party stuff, coming into the office wearing a tiara, bringing in snacks. All of this for a fake person's fake birthday. This girl drove everyone absolutely crazy, lmao.

Kate

The trailer really did it a disservice

Frank Grimes

I saw Gerry and Marge Go Large but forgot until you said the name

Tala Hobballah

A new favorite. I had to pause when Chelsea shared the details about Verity. I laughed way too hard by myself.

Iheartdna

Love love having Chelsea on!! 🥰

Sam Handwich

If this movie really wanted to be an accurate portrayal of the fashion industry we should have seen a glimpse of Jeffrey and Ghislaine at one of the parties.
