Hey All,

It's the end of the month and you know the drill! You write in the comments below a short, direct question, and we'll pick one out and answer it in June's Big Daddy Dispatch, in the Mailbag Reject section. No theme this month, just fire off whatever you wanna read about. Please be sure to include your name and where you're writing from in your post as you'd like it to appear in this month's dispatch. So I'll end this post by saying,

Thanks!

Steve in Jersey City

(thats how you should do it)

Is there a movie that you really want to do for either WHM or WLM, but for some reason can't or won't? Thanks! —Colin in Washington DC

Alexander Cessant

What did you guys miss the most during the quarantine? Alex in OKC

Cyrus Haskell

I've been introducing my daughter to the Cornetto Trilogy during lockdown and was thinking how much fun that could be as a WLM trilogy. Since the chances of that are slim to none, what are your thoughts on these films? Thanks! Cyrus in Denton, Texas

Bill Cooke

Hey guys, love the pod. What's the movie you all are most disappointed won't be getting a theater run but will instead be streaming release? Do you think anything on streaming might get a second theater release? Bill in Seattle

Morgan Jones

The listicles about "best quarantine movies/shows to binge right now" are old & tired. And as I'm listening to the back catalogue (again...because man is it therapeutic) I notice that sometimes ya'll mention movies that you watch every year. Could we hear a 3-5 per person list that ya'll think are a) worth rewatching regularly and b) worth *owning* and not just streaming. Thanks for being a candle in the darkness :) -- Morgan, Winston-Salem NC

Fardeen Chowdhury

Do you think the dreaded Assigned Seating arrangement in movie theaters will be used to enforce distancing during screenings, resulting in fewer tickets sold per movie, in the coming years? - Fardeen in Greenfield, MA

Lil' Peepers' crime boner loves a jingly pocket!

Hey guys, keep up all the good work, content is amazing. If there were one movie stuck in development hell you'd like to see get made after quarantine to help reinvigorate the theatre industry, what would it be? Thanks for the DeLouise wheezelaughs! -Tom in Buffalo

Marc Cheever

Gang, First time, long time. I've always wondered in this world of remakes and reboots what's a movie or franchise you'd actually like to see get remade? Perhaps "hidder in the house" but with the exact same cast just aged for creepiness? Thanks for the yadda yadda, Marc in Orlando Flordia

Emily McGuinness

If you were granted the chance to live one day in any film, which film would you choose and why?

Andrew Connor

How long could you make a WHM pod about a 4 hour Snyder cut of Justice League without bursting into flames/tears? Andrew in Glasgow, Scotland

Justin

I love the movie Passengers (2016). All my friends including the critics panned the movie. I get vilified for it and it is a hill I will die on. Is there one movie that you love that the other 3 don’t like and make fun of you for? Justin from Quarantined Michigan

Chris M.

Hey gang, Have you ever had a movie stuck in development hell that you really, really wanted to happen and then finally did? Were your expectations met, exceeded or did it shit the bed? Also, is there anything currently in development hell that you are just jonesing for? Thanks for all the content, Chris in Maryland

Happy Panda One

Hi guys, what’s the deal with the mafia? I’m pro-mafia too, just wondering why it comes up so often. Thanks! Matt in DC

Kyle Mares

Greetings! I know you have made comments about how Friday the 13th should have been left in the ‘80s, which makes me ask: do you prefer horror that plays things straight or that brings in some postmodern self-aware 4th wall-breaking element to the narrative? Best, Kyle from Boulder, Colorado.

Scott Goldfarb

Hey guys, what's a time when seeing a movie in a theater and seeing the crowd's reaction to it made you like the film more than you normally would? Thanks, Scott from Brooklyn

Charlie A

Hey gang, what’s a movie that was remade that you think both the original and the remake are worthwhile entertainment (even if that’s because one or both are roaring dumpster fires)? Thanks, Charlie from Portland, Oregon

Cyn

I have two: 1) What's your favorite Billy Wilder movie? 2) What's your favorite musical number in a movie? (Doesn't have to be a musical) Cynthia from Brooklyn

Alexander Farr

The recent Ring episode got me thinking about my experience watching it for the first time. My friends and I watched it during a storm, in a pitch black house, with a branch scraping against the window behind us. It's one of my all-time favorite home viewing experiences. Do you guys have any stories about a home viewing experience that enhanced a film or TV show? Alex from Whitman, MA

Mike Condron

Hey guys, what would you say is the worst movie you’ve ever seen? Not so much the worst made movie but the one that made you more aggravated than anything? Thanks! Mike in Monroe, CT

Lindsey Moore

Hey there guys, What movie or show would you try to watch with your cool mother-in-law who didn't see anything really from the mid-80s until their retirement recently? Thanks! Lindsey from Portland, Oregon

Leo Reyna

Is there a bad director you wished you could love if they made better films? Leo from TX.

Andrew Donlon

How does We Hate Movies feel about films that get turned into television series? I personally am not a huge fan, I feel that you lose set pieces and it just gets replaced Soap Opera style melodrama.

Charles Huffman

How has your movie watching experience changed since starting the podcast? I am sure you are able to watch a movie without having the "podcast" work to go with it, but is there still a part of you that is watching the movie through that lens, especially now you are doing the We Love Movies every month and not just watching good movies as a palette cleanser? Thanks for the best $8 spent every month, Charles from Hardy, Virginia

Charles Huffman

(sorry for the 2nd question) I won't argue that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull would be a good movie in any form, but I feel it got dinged that much more for being an Indiana Jones than if it was a generic adventure movie. Are there any other movie/movies that you think you actually enjoy a little more or would give a pass to if it wasn't tied to a franchise? Thanks for all the laughs, Charles from Hardy, Virginia

Elmer

With the 'social distancing'/lockdown/quarantine/'martial law'/apocalypse/'no-no-haircut'/impending-armageddon/Far-Right Bedlam cooping everyone up, what are your guys' favorite inebriates, during these uncertain times? --Elmer from Middle Minnesota

Glenn

Will you be doing Hiding Out? I know I sound obsessive with this but I think it's a perfect WHM film. Plus we don't see a lot of Jon Cryer on the show....

Benjamin Reichman

I’d be surprised if this hasn’t come up before, but do each of you have a favorite animated movie? Like many people, I feel like I didn’t take animated films seriously because animation in the US is seen as childish. Then I discovered Japanese animation (Miyazaki, Grave of the Fireflies, etc.). Thanks! Ben Reichman from Austin, Texas

Keaton Ellis

If you had to choose a single movie theater (location, not chain) for all other theaters to be patterned after in the country, which would you choose? Assuming all the same offerings of snack, fish smells, etc. Thank you! - Keaton from Tempe

Favourite movies to greenout to?

Nichole Goble

I recently went through a breakup and found myself on the prowl - not just for a hot rebound hookup, but for the ULTIMATE breakup film. I found a couple of gems but am curious what film/films y’all would put in that category. STAY INDOORS, Nichole in D.C.

bottle_in_a_genie

What methods do you use to pick the movies each month? During some months, does each member get one unimpeachable pick? Some months, does one member do all the picking? Do youse guys sometimes submit nominations and then vote on a month's selection? Is that last one also how you decide on the WLM? Thanks, love the show! Neil from Gaithersburg, MD

Allen Welsh

Have you ever bought or rented a film and got the wrong one in the box? My brother bought Open Range from a second hand DVD shop once but inside was the Michael Bublé film 'Totally Blonde'. He also once bought cat On A Hot Tin Roof when he meant to buy The Getaway but that's because he was drunk. Allen from Aberdeen, Scotland.

Cory Swope

If the WHM crew were going to do another half hour mini series like the Mandalorian eps. What T.V. Show would each of you pick? Cory in Fort Wayne, IN

Ramon R. Vasquez

Thank you for all of the content! Faithful Patreon subscriber and listening to EVERYTHING you guys put out! What’s the best/worst, “Step Child” movie you’ve ever seen? Since my friends and I can no longer meetup in person, we have begun having a virtual movie night where each week someone picks a movie that we all watch. This last week the movie that was selected was the Adam Sandler movie Little Nicky. Even though my friends found this movie to be enjoyable, I found it to be quite the opposite. It was like watching Adam Sandler do a parody of an Adam Sandler movie. Is there any movies where 3 of you believe is great, but one finds to be total garbage? Thanks, Alan from Daytona Beach

Nicholas Knecht

Cue Cabin the Contrarian (ala Conan the Barbarian but Cabin holds a giant turkey leg instead of a claymore)

Patrick O’Neal

I was a teen in the early aughts and like many people my age, I was a fan of found footage movies. Movies like Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity, ect. As the genre continued, there was a huge lapse in quality. My question is: Did anyone in the WHM gang fall victim to the found footage trend, or was there ever a genre that you loved that has disappointed you almost as suddenly as it appeared? Thanks for the hours of entertainment, Ralphie from Florida

Dan Hillen

Would love to learn more about your set ups at home. Sound? TV? Snacking tables? Dan from Nashville

Paul

Which Simpsons character do you identify with the most and why? -Paul in San Francisco

Kailey Finkelman

Hello! I graduated from high school in 1993, the same year as the kids of 90210, Degrassi AND Saved By the Bell. I watched them all. On MELRO210, you’ve touched on how concurrently airing similar shows approach the Very Special Episode topics du jour. Aside from the early 90s teen shows, I’ve never watched more than one “type” of show at a time (ie one medical drama, one soap, etc). What are some other examples of parallel storytelling either on tv or in films? Thanks, Kailey from Canada

Alexander Bauer

What was the first movie you were told you were NOT allowed to watch? I was really into vampire movies when I was a kid and we had a copy of Vamp, with Grace Jones on vhs. My mom was like don’t ever watch this, so I immediately did when she was at work, my 9 year old mind went nuts. Alex in Atalanta

Tristan

Was Kurtwood Smith underutalized in movies? Is he clint howard meets a heavy or clint howard meets a beefcake or how to do you characterize a desired Kurtwood Smith performance. Tristan Bloomington, MN

Catboyslim

Hi guys! Have you ever been to a drive-in movie ? What was the movie you saw, and did you enjoy the experience? P.S. Tell Eric that Hulu has a series called “ Das Boot” based on the movie. Cheers! Hawthorne, Salem MA

Mikey Kleinhans

how do each of you rate the great Nic Cage? Mikey from Norwich, UK

Mariya Acherkan

When Pirates 2 came out, I read that there was a stinger scene. Because it was such a novelty I forced my friend to stay till the very end of the long credits. She was so upset by how stupid the stinger was, I couldn't stop laughing at how much she hated it. Have you ever accidentally made a friend watch a bad movie to hilarious results? Mariya from Denver, Colorado

Will See

All this talk about the Pirate ride at Disney reminds me of the last time I was at Disney in 2013, it was a hot ass Florida day and I was exhausted, Pirates of the Caribbean was the only ride with no line, and it is inside an air conditioned building. So I spent about an hour just taking a nap on the boat, the operator just let me keep going in circles. Best nap ever.

Tony Garvey

Just asking if you know the ending to No Country!

Tony Garvey

In the book, it's powerful as Anton believes himself an agent of destiny. So he's disproven. He's as vulnerable as anyone. Looking toward to the ep!

Jeremy Thomas

Yooo! Has Andrew finished his DS9 watch? Would he mind ranking the following Ferengi from least annoying to most annoying and explain his reasoning? Quark, Nog, Rom, Zek and Brunt. I'm not including Ishka because she's been through enough.

“Lifeless eyes, like a doll’s eyes” Do you ever find yourself unintentionally using movie quotes in your daily life? For instance, when the delivery man comes with the groceries, (due to Covid19 precautions) I yell “LEAVE IT ON THE DOORSTEP”......and get the hell outta here. Ok the last part I whisper to myself. I figure the movie in the Home Alone film might be too obscure a reference for the general public. Hang in there! Victoria from Manhattan, Kansas
