Yes! I had a similar thought as well that he was protecting them. It makes it hilarious and slightly sinister that it doesn't pay off in this episode. I wouldn't mind if they never discuss it again and build on that he has all these powers and is basically good deep down and also a little scary that he can just melt people if he needs to.

Love that Richard Ayoade was back. He rules.

Lynne Olson

I'm with Sajdak. This is my least favorite episode so far. Baby Yoda being an absolute pain as a child and the frog woman croaking wore my patience down by the end. I did like what little we got between Amy Sedaris' character and Mando, though.

I thought about that, but at some point I switched over to thinking "he's just eating these things, isn't he?" Maybe they'll prove me wrong, though. I kind of hope they do, and they show us that Baby Yoda isn't just a gluttonous little turd this episode.

I think going from Olyphant to frog lady maybe wasn't the best choice. This episode was good but when we see the season as a whole I bet it'll seem a little out of place. Still, so nice to have the show back.

I give this Mandalorian episode a “B”.

Bill Williams

I thought it was a fun episode. I liked seeing the New Republic as a pain in the ass. Also, if you have played Shadows of Brimstone, did those spiders also remind you of void spiders?

Andrew Dean

You guys were struggling to find western tropes to explain what happens in this ep, but don’t forget all the Lone Wolf and Cub tropes - plenty of bathing scenes in those movies

Jake Kroker

I did not expect a SoB pull! They didn't have the giant creepy mouths that void spiders do but spiders in snow, yeah I can see it.

Vicki Vola

I was thinking of Moe's jar of eggs the whole episode and I was so glad to hear the guys bring that up too!

It's my least favorite episode, but I still enjoyed it overall. The Child was a real little shit though.

Also, Misty Rosas (Frog Lady) played the physical part of Kuiil during the first season with Nick Nolte providing the voice.

Heather Little

I also didn’t love this episode, especially compared to the premiere. This is more of an episode 5. I’m all for stand alone episodes, but all other stand alone eps have either really committed to genre, or character development. I think it would have been more interesting if the point was that baby Yoda was becoming more willful and harder to control. I think that could have been both funny, but also unnerving.

Smaug

I'm way more with Andrew and Chris on this one. I liked it a lot and I agree with Chris' points about SW being overly mired in plot oftentimes

Steve kills me – he says it’s the worst episode by a mile then goes on to point out all the parts / details he really liked – way to make a case. “Amy Sedaris is going to die this season because they are showing too much of her.” HAHAHA. What?! I love Steve. I always pray there is a Russian character in anything they talk about so he can do his Chekov accent. I liked this episode – great opening, some suspense, some comedy, Baby Y eats a face hugger - really good action with high value production. Filler? C’mon, C’MON.
