On this month's super-sized trip into The Nexus, the guys are chatting about two Trek episodes that are neck-and-neck as to which is the superior television product!

First on TOS, it's the brain-tastic, battle-heavy episode, "The Gamesters of Triskelion." Originally airing January 5th, 1968, this episode features a character straight out of a Simpsons porno parody; Kirk, Uhura and Chekov being forced into combat; and three brain-shaped beings that are also degenerate gamblers! Then over on TNG, it's the Worf-tastic episode, "The Emissary"! Originally airing June 24th, 1989, this episode features the gang playing poker in the dark until Picard yells at them, cryogenically frozen Klingons that don't know the war is over, and, most importantly, Worf getting laid! PLUS: We want Worf! Make that goddamn show already! WHM is donating 100% of our 2020 merch income to causes  fighting for racial justice. For more information on how you can pitch  in, head over to our website.

The Nexus is a We Hate Movies podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support this weird thing known as WHM! We couldn't do it without you!

It’s not blackface because the Klingons aren’t inherently ‘Black’ nor were they historically played by Black actors.

Maybe the TOS Enterprise crew were fans of Scott Walker's early aughts album Drift, especially its first track "Cossacks Are".

In ds9 the klingon sex sometimes results in visits to sick bay due to broken bones, so they got past the Worf-Khyler hand touching by that point at least. Confusingly, there is a TNG era alien species named the Caeliar, that accidentally created the Borg and are involved in Trek finally writing out the Collective permanently. Different spelling, same pronunciation.

Watching now and Spock’s comment about Daniel only having his faith and welcoming to have Bones is such an amazing moment. I assume Bones calls him a 1/3 breed freak before the ep ends. Thank god we stopped the spread of endemic gambling in 2020!

A LOT of plot at the latest episode of The Mandalorian. I wonder if Chris Cabin’s head exploded.

I am sure this years WLM Animation Damnation is picked already but one day you guys should cover the Futurama Star Trek episode. Talk of quatloos always reminds me of that

Paul

That casino commercial tho.

Finally listened to the TNG side. Kinda surprised Andrew says at the end that we haven’t not met Alexander, because this is the episode where the fucker was conceived!! When she comes back in like season 4 she has him(he is also like 5 at the time, don’t try to do the math on that one, yadda yadda Klingon biology I guess)

I fell asleep listening to this and had weird dreams during which you guys were talking. It was so strange. Lol. I don’t remember much of what was said, except at one point you talked about a 2 1/2+ podcast about the 2009 Star Trek coming out. Or did that actually happen? Lol.

Bobthemime

The dude with the antennae is an Andorian. They show up a couple times in TOS and then are forgotten about until Star Trek Enterprise, led by our pal Jeffrey Combs
