On this month's WLM, the guys are having a ball chatting about childhood favorite, Gremlins 2: The New Batch! How great is it seeing this puppet work in action? Does Billy have any friends under 65? And what a treat to see that movie theater interruption! PLUS: Anyone else find the restaurant scene rather eye-opening as a youth? Gremlins 2 stars Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates, John Glover, Robert Prosky, Robert Picardo, Christopher Lee, Haviland Morris, Dick Miller, Keye Luke, Kathleen Freeman, and Gedde Watanabe; directed by Joe Dante. Thanks so much for supporting We Hate Movies on Patreon! Talking about the fire alarm scene, something I always found odd is that alot of the people exiting rooms seems like a hotel floor rather than offices. Was there a hotel in clamp tower as well as all the offices and animal testing labs lol

Hunter Urey

You can most def see douku’s head roll after he falls

I'm sure I've seen a version of the film breaking scene that had both the movie theatre part and the TV channels part together it was very long and didn't gel very well.

Emil Svensson

I think Andrew might be thinking of Jackie Chan sliding down a poll in a mall in Police Story.

Tony King

I rewatched this last night on Dee Vee Dee (even had that piracy warning at the beginning!). It's still as great as it was when I was a kid. I love this movie, and I'm really looking forward to this episode.

Joe Wright

I'm guessing, in this order: 1. Tony Randall, 2. Hulk Hogan, 3. Gizmo.

Kierston Ghaznavi

This movie is quintessentially my childhood. Can’t wait for this episode!!

Frank Grimes

Maybe a hot take or possibly nostalgia...but i saw this one before the original and love it more. I loved how absurd and meta it was...and I absolutely fucking loved how the gremlins got "powers" with all the experiments they ingested.

RE: star studded LEGO cast. Lego Dimensions IS a video game, but it's a gimmick one where you buy physical sets of lego kits with an NFC chip on them and put them on a portal platform so the characters will show up in the game.

The Gremlins nerd in me has to point out that Spike never existed. Stripe was the bad guy in the first Gremlins, but he's often misremembered as Spike. It blew my mind when I first read about it and realized the truth, but I wasn't alone. Mandela effect strikes again.

Davidandwaffles

The Gremlins nerd in ME has to point out that the crazy mogwai/gremlin is named Daffy, a tribute to Daffy Duck. I may or may not have a pretty sweet action figure of him...

Comrade Trash Panda

I lived above one of my favorite small Pizza restaurants in New Haven in my 20s. Make the call and walk down 2 flights of stairs. Fresh from the oven

Dangmo

Unapologetic favourite. I spent so much time w this movie as a kid, and it easily outclasses the original for me.

Darryl Bowen

I saw this in theaters AND read the novelization. I can't remember for sure but think the gremlins attack the author instead of the protectionist in the movie

Mike Miller

We spend 40 minutes on the hot red head, folks. As we should

Mike Miller

Also T-shirt idea: Eric smoking a bong looking at Sully landing the plane out of the corner of his eye.

Peter Kostka

As someone who worked at Toys R Us at the time, I can say that NOBODY bought that shit and I was constantly marking them down. Same with Skylanders (after the first few games) and every other "Toys to Life" crap from 5 years ago that wasn't from Nintendo.

Patrick W Bears

I actually liked the VHS version with the John Wayne impression. They stage a scene of the gremlins in a shootout and it’s cute!

Conrad Silas

Just started this one, but listening to the lads talking about the background PA announcements reminded me of M*A*S*H*. I now wish I'd chosen that one for LRM. If anyone in the gang actually reads this, might that one some day be on the docket?

Ox Man

I'm in New Haven now. Live right beside Modern. So nice!

Enrique Banda

Can’t believe the team didn’t mention the bat gremlin leaving a Batman symbol hole in the wall when it escaped outside!

Team Stryker

I have the Lego Dimensions game and it’s actually really good! It was WB trying to get on the toys-with-games racket of buying a Lego set and then you get to play as that character in the game. They would do level expansions of different movies and shows so you could be Batman and Homer running around the Back to the Future set. They sadly stopped making expansions pretty quick but the actual game was a lot of fun.

Jesse Hicks

I really hope they do an episode on Looney Tunes Back in Action, it’s so weird in the best ways.

Tristan

John Glover smallville transference episode Rating: 9.1/10 · ‎990 votes can't argue with math.

Lono's Oboe

That shot of the Gremlins in the projection booth that Andrew mentions remembering might be the one from the first movie. So it's not just his imagination. They did screw around in a projection booth. Edit: please see the GREMLINS WIKI (because there is always a wiki) https://gremlins.fandom.com/wiki/Projector_Gremlins

Infinite Terror

I'm not here to defend Smallville or anything but Glover's performance is realistically the best thing on the whole show.

Beatrix

I had a crush on Marla when I saw this movie. At 8 years old. Is that too young?

Andy

Gdi, y'all. Al Pacino yelling, "That lady gremlin's got a BIG ASS." Wiped me out both times we listened. Chef kiss

Chaz Keracher

John Glover was good as The Devil in the TV show Brimstone.

Alicia

I kept getting defensive whenever y’all were saying how Billy needs to kill Gizmo... mainly cuz my chihuahua’s name is Mogwai 😟 HE’S A GOOD BOY, GUYS.
