On this month's We Love Movies, the guys are chatting about a total all-timer from Michael Mann, Collateral! How completely unappealing does Jamie Foxx's business proposal sound? How cool are those eerie coyotes? Has Michael Mann ever had a film with bad music? And where does this movie land in our Mann Standings? PLUS: Look out for a whole lotta... interesting Minion talk!

Collateral stars Tom Cruise, Jamie Foxx, Jada Pinkett Smith, Mark Ruffalo, Bruce McGill, Peter Berg, Irma P. Hall, Barry Shabaka Henley, Debi Mazar, and Javier Bardem; directed by Michael Mann.

I love the remake Stuber

I literally just broke up with my boyfriend of 10 years and then you drop this. Going to need the laughs so Thank you boys❤️💔😔

ZeroPlan

Hype for any Mann you guys do! Can't wait 💜

Console Canon

Glad it was waiting for you. I needed the pickup today, as well!

Adam

Sweeeeeeeet

Geoffrey T. Blackwell

Ugh. When I saw this movie in theaters it gave me a terrible headache. I've never watched it since.

Eren Keskin

Tom Cruise should've played more villains, tbh. He excels at it. His full sliver gray character to me personifies the modern technological age. A remorseless machine man of sorts, and it's awesome

Jonathan

Yay! My favorite Mann film.

Leesha Olivier

Great turn by Cruise as the bad guy.

Christopher Schuber

The grey suit & white hair always gave me "Great White Shark" super predator vibes as he's cruising through the night.

Smaug

Tom Cruise is such a twerp but Tom Cruise movies are great. I think Live Die Repeat is one of my favorites, Bill Paxton does the most realistic portrayal of a Master Sergeant/First Sergeant I've ever seen Chris learned how to say Cartagena from Michael Douglas in Romancing the Stone and I love it. It's inadvertently the funniest part of that movie to my wife, she really likes that movie to this day. "Cartahaynyuh!? Lady you're hell and gone from Cartahaynyuh!"

Justin Shaw

Mann put all the coyotes through advanced combat training to get that natural look

Clever Girl

"Fatsterpiece?" 😂🤣

Eren Keskin

That can be it, too, since his whole deal is always going forward, just like a shark.

Paul

“Heat 2”, co written by Michael Mann and Meg Gardiner, coming out to bookstores and Audible in August.

Vicky I

Tom Cruise runs on screen = to quote Blank Check, "he do run"

Zora McBride

I love this movie - saw it in theaters when I was 16 and it's part of what helped get me into jazz. Just a hell of a smart, thought provoking psychological thriller. Can't wait to see whatcha guys will do to it! :)

Zane Magers

This is FOR SURE one of the funniest We Love Movies ever, hell one of the funniest podcasts yall have ever created in my opinion. Had a fucking grand time. Ready for the Unhingedmentary! I 🤣

John Harrison

I have to admit I simply took Jason Statham in this movie as playing his Transporter character, just a courier who knows to keep his mouth shut and doesn't ask questions (until the events in the first movie)

Robin Fry

Have you guys seen The Offer? Giovanni Ribisi is basically playing the Penguin in that. Not sure if it’s a fat suit or all his own work but he’s definitely wearing less makeup than Colin Farrell

Matt

You guys should do a WLM for the new horror movie X.

Garrett Dryden

What a 44 magnum would do to a minions pussy... I laughed so fucking hard it hurt, well done

Daniel Hood

Just watched this last night and hotdamn it's awesome

Mellow_Bee

Guys, I NEVER leave comments but wanted to say a huge "thank you" for covering this awesome fucking movie. Was pumped to see it when it hit the shelf at Blockbuster (💔) as a lonely teen who watched amazing movies with no one to share them with. Hearing this episode scratched a deep itch I'd always had to just revel in how well-crafted this movie is and how well it holds up! Jurassic Park being released as a WLM was obviously super enjoyable, but you guys covering Collateral (or any more of Mann's stuff please!) is what keeps me a loyal Patreon subscriber no matter how fucked the economy is. Much love from the depths of hell/Florida!

I feel like I have to defend my love of this movie a lot. It flows along like a beautiful song you just can’t turn off. Great episode!
