On this trip into the Nexus, the gang takes a break from the TOS/TNG track to tackle some listener requested episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager! First up, the DS9 episode, "Civil Defense." Originally airing on November 7th, 1994, this boring bottle episode features characters locked in vents, locked in command centers, and even locked in offices! What a scream!

Then over on Voyager, we're talking about the disgusting, "Threshold." Originally airing on January 29, 1996, this has to be the grossest episode of Voyager, as you get to watch Tom Paris and Captain Janeway evolve into salamander people and mate, only to have Chakotay beam them back aboard Voyager and leave the offspring for dead on a deserted planet!

A big THANK YOU to all the folks who wrote in episode submissions—we'll do this again!

The Nexus is a We Hate Movies podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time; cover art by Felipe Sobreiro.

They've done 'Slobs In Space' . It's British, it's called Red Dwarf and it's been running for 30 years! You guys would love it,

Kureigu

Ds9 has always been my favourite as it was so different than the other treks. These days lower decks is the best trek I've seen though.

Enrico Palazzo

DS9 has its flaws, but it has the best story arc overall, the best space battles and some of the best episodes of any series. In The Pale Moonlight, Duet, The Way of The Warrior, Little Green Men. All phenomenal episodes. Even Voyager has aged really well having watched 4 seasons of bloody Discovery.

Dukat's creepy obsession with Kira does lead to several v good episodes, including Wrongs Darker Than Death or Night, which involves her mother's time as Dukat's occupation era "comfort woman " and his attempt to manipulate her into coparenting his daughter.

Robyn

I think Voyager and DS9 slash fiction would've made these episodes more fun for you guys...or at least for Eric.

Johnny

"Your mom's a dirty Ferengi, Quark. How does that make you feel?" I may have been hysterically laughing at that by myself in a crowded public area.

I Miss the 90’s

I'm so glad you guys did a DS9 and Voyager episode. But man the Voyager theme song is sooooooo long.

erik

Sorry Andrew but both DS9 an Voyager theme are so boring they make me wanna fall asleep before the show even starts, now the Original an Next Gen just make the show go BAM HELL YEAH now thats an intro. Great show thou guys

Oh god, this was all I could think about listening to them talk about the DS9 and Voyager intros; why on Earth did they decide to go to a song with lyrics? Why such a bad song?!? Poor Enterprise, the theme song was an early warning about how "good" that series would be. I wish Scott Bakula got a better shot at being Captain...

Scott Farmer

Relistened to this episode today. Really hope you guys do DS9 with TNG once you run out of TOS episodes. It’s a great Star Trek show. There are some stinker episodes, to be sure, but there are really great performances and deep character arcs. As far as kids on these shows, Jake Sisko is actually not bad, especially compared to Wesley Crusher. And I gotta hear you guys talk more about Gul Dukat as the character unfolds.

Ivan Myers

I just started watching Trek. I loved TNG now I'm on DS9 and I like it

CharlesF

This was fun to listen to even though I'm a total die-hard DS9 fan. FWIW there's a truly great Jake Sisko episode called The Visitor featuring an adult Jake played by the legendary Tony Todd

Ajax

lmao you didn't watch a second of that ds9 episode

Johnny Wrong

the "borg cube full of dudes who are just hanging out" was worth the whole $8 😂😂😂

Inglefinger

"Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" is a good way to describe character actor Andrew Robinson in this series. I think Garak is one of the best characters in all of Trek. Speaking of best; best line in this podcast: "Then what the fuck are you talking about, dude? 'Cause I'm talking about fuckin."
