On our first commentary covering a film from the MCU, we're jumping ass-first into the Multiverse while talking over the third Jon Watts Spidey film, Spider-Man: No Way Home! How ridiculous is it that the movie asks us to root for this selfish kid who screws up the entire fabric of space and time... all because he didn't get into MIT? Why did the script feel it needed to laugh at things like Doc Oc's name as if somehow this film is above decades of established comic history? Does Disney mandate this 6" for the Lord stuff when it comes to on-screen affection? And why in the world did the all-powerful Sorcerer Supreme let himself get shafted by some punk kid? PLUS: Dafoooooooooooe!  Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina, Benedict Wong, Tony Revolori, Rhys Ifans, Thomas Haden Church, Andrew Garfield, Toby Maguire, and Willem Dafoe as Norman OsborneIf you find yourself needing to re-start your commentary sync experience, remember that we start the film at the 00:00:05 mark and the commentary part of the audio tracks begins at 00:02:34.

Amazing. Always love the commentaries. Peace and love from S. Dakota!

Does the ducktales DSB voice hurt?

Zora McBride

Woohoo, the commentaries are some of my favorite content! Y'all killed it in NJ by the by; my girlfriend and I had an incredible time watching the WLM for The Birdcage. Thanks as ever. Don't forget to wear the blue!

Lono's Oboe

Curious to know if I am the only one who downloads the movie and syncs the commentary and movie in premiere. I can't be bothered pausing the streamer and patreon and it helps me manage the audio levels better. For bonus nerd points, I also created a transparent silhouette from Felipe's commentary graphic and super it over the bottom right of the movie so I get the full MST3K experience. (I imagine I am the only one who does that)

Andrew Dean

And then you seed it on torrent sites?

Matt

I guess I'm getting day-drunk on Canada Day and syncing this commentary!

Lono's Oboe

To be clear about the silhouette, I did it for a laugh when I had a friend over to watch the Harry Potter commentary. I worked as an editor for years so syncing the tracks just makes so much sense to me. I guess I am also asking if anyone knows any good apps/a better way to do it.

Leighton Pritchard

Your way sounds pretty good and straightforward. Do you do auto ducking/add subtitles in Premiere?

Lono's Oboe

I did do ducking for work but I am always running through the audio manually so I am as well doing it myself. I don't bother with the guys though. As for subs, we have a paid AI service for doing subs we have been using the last few years. I have not messed around with the in program generator yet though. Probably should try it. I do leave the movie subs on though. You know yourself, you get used to doing things a certain way and that's how you do it.

Lono's Oboe

That's great, with audacity and Da Vinci resolve it's pretty easy to figure out. The only tricky part is ripping the disk or saving the stream/rental.

More HP-mentaries plz

Leesha Olivier

Delightful Rum and Diet Cola during this watch, my first time viewing. Fun seeing Andrew and Toby in this.

AlsoNamedB0rt

I honestly don’t give a shit about the MCU, but the relentless negativity about every single aspect of it is getting very boring. I couldn’t even finish it. You guys just bummed me out.

Jack

add another vote for Steve to watch Under the Silver Lake

Darryl Bowen

Didn't the Tobey Maguire back pain gag come from Spider-Man 2 due to a real back injury he got while doing Seabiscuit? I think the incident pushed back production for Spider 2

Mark D Myers

Got to say I hate this ending I liked having a Spider-Man who's life was not completely destroyed by being Spider-Man.

We Hate Movies

Bummer to hear, but if you turned it off, you missed the positive stuff we had to say about the movie. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Andrew Dean

Thank you for your service!

Matt Nelson

"entitled Spider-Man voice" being only like a shade of difference from a Cartman voice is so perfect it kills me every time

Adam Lewis

Screw you guys, I can do whatever a spider can.

Adam Lewis

I wouldn't object to an Off-Screen book club about the recent, damning biography of Stan Lee by A.J. Riesman.

Shane Cash

Yep. Ironically Jake Gyllenhall was cast to replace him before he got better

Felipe Sobreiro

I like Spider-man's status quo at the very end of the movie, he finally catches up with the comic version.

I'd Rather Have No Name

Honestly, I agree with you! I love WHM commentaries, honestly don't care much for MCU, and was just so bummed out and bored by this one. It was mood killer for sure, definitely not a commentary I would revisit or recommend.

DRKITTENPHD

Don’t worry. I think the trillion dollar franchise is okay, but thanks for your concern.

DRKITTENPHD

“You get your wizard ass out here!”

Ron51

This movie made Dr. Strange a joke

Ron51

Bro why is your spiderman voice Herbert the Pervert 😂😂

Dennis Stack

Listened to this during my rewatch leading up to brand new day. I really hope they actually let this version of Spider-Man stand on his own two feet in the new one. Tony Stark's shadow dominated the first two movies and nostalgia takes the shine of Tom Holland in this one.
