On this month's very special edition of our Star Trek re-cap show, the gang is talking about TNG's "The Best of Both Worlds!"

The first part aired June 16, 1990 as the finale of the third season, and the season four premiere, part two, aired September 22, 1990. This is of course the fabulous in-series movie-feeling two-parter where Picard is captured and assimilated by the Borg! How much does Riker super-hate that Commander Shelby? Lotta laughs at Wesley getting shut down at the poker game, no? Isn't it just incredible seeing the Whoopster here? How cool is Riker's blackout line for part one? And any time you get to see that Battle Bridge on this show, you know you're in for a good time! PLUS: Tons of moments of Worf and Data just ICING Borg left and right!

The Nexus is a WHM podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support this weird thing we do—we couldn't do it without you! We know you have lots of options for podz and we're super-stoked you chose to spend some time with us—thanks again!

Frank Grimes

oh baby, one of the big daddy episodes right here.

Tim Batson

As always, incredible art Felipe!

NFlux Forever

I wonder if it will be standard operating procedure to do these super-sized Nexus episodes for 90 minute or two-part episodes.

Patrick Hayden

I was 13 when it aired and this was the first cliffhanger season finale I had ever seen. Went nuts when "To Be Continued" showed up.

Andrew Dean

Re watched this a few months back and I’d totally forgotten it was mainly about Riker getting emasculated

John Gudmann

I only watched this for the first time recently, loved it! I loved the follow-up episode just as much too, Picard and his brother were great.

Jeremy Pawlak

Watched this for the first time last night to prep for the episode, and WOW, that's how you do great TV. Listened to the first half of the Nexus episode last night, will finish tonight. Great job, guys!

Tom Day

More Australian racism, for shame

Craig

Has there ever been an Australian character in Star Trek? Australian actors (Chris Hemsworth, Eric Bana, Picard love interest Wendy Hughes) but no Aussie characters. We’re they all wiped out in the eugenics wars?

Adam Lewis

There are special starship classes for convicts only.

Tristan

Great engage or engagement jokes.

Craig

The Botany Bay that Khan was on is named after the bay they landed the convicts at, so this is true!

John M.

Wolf 359 is an actual nearby star, if you weren’t aware. Only realized it myself last year.

Billie Jackson

They just needed to trick the Borg into going to Warp 10 instead of transwarp or whatever. Then, ship full of salamanders! The Braga maneuver.
