It's our sexy, sunny, flashback to 1990's Los Angeles (and Paris) on MELR0210!

First up on Beverly Hills, 90210, it is, blissfully, the final trip to Paris as we talk about "Shooting Star/American in Paris," which originally aired on August 12, 1992, this episode has Dean Cain playing a top-tier himbo, Brenda doing a dreadful French accent, Saint Brandon trying to get a literal beach bum a job at the club, Steve Sanders loving David's terrible music, and Kelly and Dylan canoodling on the beach!

Then, up the road on Melrose Place, it's the mostly-bonkers episode, "Parting Glances." Premiering back on February 9, 1994, this episode has Billy and Alison's long distance relationship imploding, Jake and Amanda telling Reed where to go, Matt almost ruining Jeffrey's naval career, Jo finally opening Reed's secret compartment on the drug boat, and Sydney starting to turn the screws on Michael and Matt!

MELR0210 is a WHM podcast where the guys blissfully stroll through the Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place timelines. The TV episodes covered will run in broadcast order. Thanks so much for continuing to support the WHM Patreon! You're way cooler than Dylan McKay!Cover art by Felipe Sobreiro.

Phase IV is a Dean Cain and Brian Bosworth direct to video bad movie watch from the late 90s. Not too bad with a tall glass of water for some laughs.

Types of headaches: Migraine, hypnic, tension, Brenda's fake-ass French accent in fake-ass France

If anyone's interested here are a few friendly tips for sounding more natural in French: Don't say JÉ suis but say J'suis(sounds like "Shwee"), don't say "Je ne sais pas" but drop that ne and say "J'ais pas"(again like Shwee pas), don't say "mon ami" but say "mon pote" or "Mec"(pronounced meck. Used for any guy under 40)

We Hate Movies

I've always kinda danced around maaaaaaybe turning this on at 1am. Thanks for the rec! - Andrew

Would definitely take some of your French classes! (Always the language I've wanted to try and crack on my own, mainly to enjoy my 60's French heist films more!) - Andrew

On their levels of Doohan-ness, I think I’d go Andrew, Eric, Chris, and Steve, in that order.

The song David was listening to is “They Want EFX” by Das EFX, which is an awesome song.

NFlux Forever

It's a shame that because of music rights bullshit, you missed out on one of the all-time great TV needle-drops playing over the last scene with Dylan and Kelly. It's one of my favorite songs, "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover" by Sophie B. Hawkins. Also, I'd say that their emotional cheating is much more heinous and insidious than any of the physical stuff.

My uncle is an immigrant in France. He’d always force me to speak French with him. You should totally get your hands on Série Noire by Gallimard Publishing, Andrew. It gave birth to the whole genre

Frank Grimes

Oh God I need to see him rap some Das efx...lmao

Shut It Off

Spot on… big hit at that time

Ryan Horn

The Seinfeld / Melrose Place crossover numbers are insane.

G Goldhar

No one in the history of movies has ever exclaimed "BIFF YAEGER?!" other than the fucking Clue victim about to die by his hand

Mitochondria

I've been having financial trouble this year and had to cancel all my patreon memberships, it's such a comfort to come back and have a back catalog of Melr0210 in these trying times ❤️

Eric Posin

By this point the stakes on the two shows are very different from each other. It’s hard to picture like Donna finding out her boyfriend is a drug mule and and then gets trapped in the cargo hold.

Chemical Em

As a person who was homeless this episode is soo cringe and awful😂

Brian

yet…

It was so weird hearing them speculate that part of Andrea's attraction to Billy was down to him being "tall" when I know for a fact that they've been poking fun at him for being short in several previous episodes.
