Hey folks.

Part II is almost done and ready to drop, but before I put it out, I want to ask something honestly.

As a lot of you know, Tier IV comes with a small perk: 24-hour early access.

On paper that’s a nice, simple extra for the highest tier. In practice, though, it occasionally becomes a real problem for Tier III when one person leaks the set within hours of release.

My stance on leaks is pretty simple.

This is the internet. I get that once someone has the files, they can post them anywhere. I don’t have a publisher or a pile of lawyers behind me. So I’ve always been pretty chill about it, as long as people wait a few days or a couple of weeks. When I spot a leak, I usually just message the site and ask them to hold off a bit. Most of the time they do, and things show up two or three weeks later.

Every now and then, though, there’s that one Tier IV member who just can’t wait and dumps it the same day (within hours).

If that’s you and you’re reading this: I don’t hate you. But it does hurt the person you’re supposedly supporting, and it especially sucks for the Tier III folks who then see the set leaked while they’re still waiting. This completely kills the entire point of the early access perk that I gave you. And now, because of you. I may have to consider putting an end to that perk.

To be clear, early leaks like that are rare, but they can happen, and it isn’t fair to Tier III subscribers when it does.

I thought early access would be a nice perk when I added it. But... Clearly some people don’t want to play nice with it.

So I’m seriously considering changing the perk for an "archive perk" for Tier IV instead. I’m not going to just decide that myself. This affects you, so I want you to vote. But hear me out!

The idea:

Tier III would have access to the 3 most recent image sets. After that, those sets get archived, and only Tier IV can still access the archived sets. That’s the new perk in place of early access. A lot of other creators do something like this. And at least it's a perk that won't be affected by leakers.

This would not touch OC content or game releases. Tier III would still get those. Only the big image sets would get archived.

That way, if someone leaks immediately, Tier III already has the set at the same time as Tier IV. And Tier IV gets the convenience of being able to grab older sets whenever they want without having to download the whole library.

To me that’s the cleanest compromise. But I don’t want to force it unless most of you are on board.

So here’s the poll:

Do you want me to switch from 24-hour early access to archive access for older sets (basically anything older than 3–4 months)?

Or would you rather I leave it as-is and keep early access?

I think the archive idea is a good incentive at least for those who want access to your older stuff. It really sucks that people are like this but maybe there’s a silver lining.

CoffeeEnjoyer

I consider archive access a bare minimum for the "standard" tier. May be a high standard, but I simply refuse to subscribe to creators where I can't even browse the work I'm already financially supporting without paying much more *for every set*, paying more or simply going to a pirated copy. The last option would win for most people, all it does is push people already willing to pay away.

CoffeeEnjoyer

It sucks people are leaking stuff early! But are you sure there's real impact on *paying* subscribers there? Most people were never going to subscribe in the first place. Those aren't the ones you need to worry about.

Tonk

I also agree, which is why I never even considered archiving. And that's why I'm putting it to a vote.

CoffeeEnjoyer

I just don't really get why you'd move to this model, from what you had before. The leaker is subscribed to the highest tier, and this equates to a *massive* reward downgrade for Tier 3. Doing this at all just doesn't seem logical to me.

Tonk

You might be right and to be clear, I'm not a fan of archiving (There is a reason why I haven't done it for years). This is why I'm putting this vote. To get your feed back. I do NOT want to impose this on you. So if you guys say you don't want archiving. Then that's that. And I will never bring it up again.

Rob the Hungry

the biggest issue is someone keeps leaking sets on e-hentai so even if you make an archive there already is one that anyone can access

PlaceboX

I see your points, and iam also mad if i see paywork on Day1 on sharesites. At least wait some days.. its not like you earn someting for posting it... But from my view, you punish Tier 3 Supporters for the Tier 4 missdeeds. And with that you would start an even worse cycle for your wallet, as CoffeeEnjoyer already explained. Thank you for asking and communicating. :)

Tonk

I think you're right. And that's why I'm putting up this post and poll. I want to get you guys opinion about it first. Because I don't want to make this change for me. But for you. I do see your point and I see why archiving is probably not a good alternative. I'm putting a new poll with a 3rd option.

meowz

i didn't understand what i read

Will part 2 drop today? I get that you want to sort this out but any post without part 2 (past several promises) only irritates. That may sound blunt but I think it is worth saying. Anyhow, I'd just have tier 4 be with previews and 3 without. the 24 hours thing only invites looking up leaks and potentially not paying.

Tonk

My friend, I see that you've supported me for a long time, so I'm going to try to be as respectful as I can in my response. I just dropped a 250-pages part DAYS ago! And you're complaining already? 250 pages! And I promised I would deliver the rest (200 MORE pages) sometime this week. The entire set is going to be 450 pages. Okay? That 2.5 times the reasonable size of what I can deliver a month (which is 140-150 pages tops.) So within a month and a half, you will get 450 pages' worth of detailed content. You have NO freaking idea how much I worked myself to death this past month alone to deliver, and you're not happy? See, this is why I don't want to do hard schedules anymore. That behavior right there. And that's my fault; I created unreasonable expectations. So allow me to be blunt as well. If you think that a massive set of 450 pages in one and a half months is not good enough for you? Feel free to leave. And please. Do not let the door hit you and the way out. I understand what you're saying to some extent, but I do NOT appreciate your attitude! And say this with the utmost respect. You don't think that me trying to preserve myself from a burnout is reasonable? Then leave. It's that simple. I don't want your money. Either you understand what I'm saying here, or you understand that I'm a human being. Not a robot you can order around. Don't be unreasonable. You can leave. I don't want your money. I hope you will understand my position. But if you don't. Then I'm not holding you hostage here.

PkG

You really need to learn how to take constructive criticism better. Your fanbase is exceedingly understanding, and I think reasonable (I count myself to that bunch). I have no problems waiting for content, but what I do find annoying is constantly getting my hopes up only for it to be another wall of text. What I suggested was for you to wait with ideas, suggestions and polls until you have delivered what you previously insinuated would come next. That is literally it. You certainly don't have to listen, but that is what I feel would be best.

Tonk

Nah. That's not criticism; that's you trying to guilt-trip me to get what you want. If that's your take on it, I have no issue making you wait. You clearly don't understand that I'm a human being, not a machine that exists to serve you exactly how you desire. I know EXACTLY what you're trying to do here. And that's to make me feel bad and guilty so that you can get what you want. That's all this is, don't pretend this is anything else. There is nothing constructive about your post. I make no apologies for what I said, and I mean every single word. If that's your attitude. Then frankly... I don't need your money. All I saw in your post is guilt tripping me so that I release the content you want. That's what you did. There is no constructive criticism in there. You wanted to be blunt? I return your my bluntness in kind. You don't like the heat? Don't throw the heat to begin with it. That's all there is to it.

Tonk

And to answer your question. Yes, I'm releasing it today. Now grab your content and leave me alone. We're done here?

PkG

I'll say it again: I do not have a problem waiting -- I think few people here do! But imagine it from the readers perspective. We get an notification/email everytime you post. Everyone is waiting for part 2 and know it is coming this week. People have been anticipating the story for weeks. Would it not make more sense to leave everyone to their lives until things are ready? That is what I was getting at - nothing else. It is simply a matter of respect to the readers (who all have great respect for you, I might add).

Tonk

No! I put myself in your shoes... Constantly! That 's WHY... i usually overwork myself to DEATH! Because I pressure to deliver DELIVER! DELIVER! ALWAYS DELIVER! It is you, who should TRY step inside my shoes for a second. yes, I was supposed to release the entire set two weeks ago. Yes, I made posts about trying to get to the finish line, only to not meet it. You know what I did during that time frame? I worked EVERYDAY until 10-11 PM. NO DAYS OFFS! Not even a break... I eat, Sleep, WORK! WORK! WORK! Why? Because I was working my ASS OFF to get this out ASAP. I tried. I really did. Then I made my most, explaining that I can't keep going like this anymore. And I need to rethink how I deliver content. I also said, part 2 would come next week. (We're still next week). My friend. it has only been a WEEK since I explained why I had to change things because I could not keep on like this.. And here you are... That didn't even last a week. And you're trying to pass yourself as the "reasonable fan". I assure, you're not! I'm sorry, but I cannot sympathize with someone who clearly is not capable of giving the same courtesy.

PkG

And here I am: Telling you the delay is not the problem. What I said is wait with the other stuff -- the polls, discussions and all of that. No one is going anywhere. I get that it might have been bad timing for construtive criticism, since we know you have a lot right now, so sorry for that. I just don't like emotional rollercoasters with getting excited and let down.

Tonk

Look. I'm going to calm down and take thing down a notch. On paper. I get what you're saying. But I'm sorry, the way you phrase things gives me the feeling of "I'm entitled to these" vibes. You're entitled to content. But you're not entitled to talk down to me like I'm your employee. That is not the nature of our relationship here. I'm not perfect, ok? I'll admit it. Made mistakes. I won't deny it. But buddy. I've worked so hard. So freaking hard. I don't deserve to be talked down to as you just did, like you're my manager. I can take criticism just fine, but not when it's presented like this. The way you addressed me... I do not like it. Plain and simple. You guilt trip me like an angry manager talks to their employee. I do NOT take to that kindly. If you don't understand why the way you said things pissed me off. Then I think there is not reason for us to keep talking. Have a good one.

PkG

Trust me, I know how hard you work -- I have been a fan for years. I had no intention of guilt-tripping you, so sorry if it came across that way.

Tonk

That said, I understand the emotional roller coaster and being disappointed argument... But the way you approached this in your first reply? Nope... No thanks! That's not constructive criticism to me. That's emotional manipulation. You could have phrased things in a better way.

Tonk

Look, sorry if I got angry. But, my friend. You know I've been through a lot. You know, I had to make a hard decision (not because I wanted to but because I had to.) Believe me, I hated not delivering the set on time. Which is why I had to make a drastic change because I don't want to set false expectations again. The VERY reason I'm not tying myself to tight monthly schedules anymore... Is to avoid the "setting up expectation and letting people down" part. But buddy... I only made this change a WEEK ago! And you're already complaining! Come on! You're not giving me a chance here.

PkG

My first message was unnecessarily blunt, sure. But glad the idea came across. Take care!

Tonk

You too! And don't worry, the reason I made the decision to not tie myself to unreasonable delivery schedules is to avoid setting bad expectations. So I'm very aware of that. That's why I made that decision. But again... that was a week ago. You got to be a bit more patient and not mention that I haven't broken my promise to release the set this week. So please, be patient. Thank you.

I like and respect your work, so your feelings should also be taken into account.
