oh yeah! This one was probably my favorite movie out of the trilogy.

This one is my favorite as well. Black Pearl is always really good but there is just something special about this one.

This was so much fun! Really enjoyed watching this with you guys. The whole trilogy (yes, we aren't counting 4 and 5, even though 4 is an ok movie) is so good. The fact that it was done in 2006 and looks this good is amazing, especially the smaller effects like Davy Jones. Like you said, Bill Nighy is amazing. I also agree with the fact that clever scripting with all the small twists and turns makes the movie work so well and really keeps the viewer constantly guessing. Every character always has motivation for their actions more than just moving the plot forward and that is a thread through the entire trilogy. The possible love triangle is hinted already in the first one (mostly by Jack) but considering the end I always got the feeling it is mostly just Elizabeth using her "feminine ways", so to speak. The interpretation about the compass is good, hadn't thought about that before and it makes good sense. Also, did you catch the hint at Barbossa earlier in the movie? When Tia Dalma lets the monkey out of the cage, we get a shot of the pirates looking around the corner and the monkey sitting on the lower half of a body. That is Barbossa (you can recognize the shoes). It's subtle, but very clever. Looking forward to the third one!

I'm glad you two got to see the after-credits scene in the first movie. It seems like a small thing, but I have actually seen other reactors get confused in this movie by the undead monkey, because why is it undead if the curse was broken? Well, because it took a piece of the Aztec treasure again! But not knowing why it's still undead has led some other viewers to get confused and/or start coming up with wild theories about it. If I recall correctly, one reactor, I can't remember who, actually called it a plot hole that the writers forgot to explain. This movie also had an after-credits scene. You can go back and see it if you want to. But please remember that the third film also has an after-credits scene, and IMO, that final scene is EXTREMELY important. I didn't even know these movies had post-credits scenes until after I'd watched the whole trilogy twice, and after seeing them, I always feel bad when someone watching these for the first time misses them. Especially the third post-credit scene. So, please, please make a note for yourself or something. Make sure to watch the final one.

Well I couldnt wait for the 3th one... I still hope you dont make us wait two long for the 3th. Because you mentioned how well this movie keeps up in visuals to today. Davy Jones is to this day concidered one of, if not the best CGI character ever made, they just focused so much on the face and made sure to cover the rest of him in rags so they can perfect the close ups. Its a masterpiece in CGI, and still a alot better than most characters we see today. Cant wait for the 3th!

Davy Jones is one of the best anti villains ever made in cinema in my opinion, I hold him up there along with Anakin Skywalker. This movie does a great job developing how much of an intimidating and powerful presence and Bill Nighy does an amazing job portraying this character. I'm exciting for Denise to see more of Davy Jones.
