I agree Parker Finn feels much more confident in his direction, this is a masterfully shot film. I think Morris was actually real, but as soon as Skye left the the pub it was too late for her. I saw the dancer in her apartment putting its arm in her mouth as symbolic of the entity finally taking control. Everything after that was a hallucination. But that's just my take, I feel like you could interpret what's real and what's hallucinated in different ways!

Already did. You should be able to find it if you go down

This movie was my favorite horror of this year. Easily!

PumpkinHat

This movie was crazy. I agree with y'all's analysis. I feel like the symbolism of the first one was trauma and how people who experience trauma sometimes end up passing that trauma on to other people by becoming the very thing that created them. This movie was more about mental illness and addiction because they are similar afflictions and I think a natural evolution from this is like internet and social media and how that can cause severe anxiety and depression if you are constantly reading about terrible stories and conspiracy theories and scams and constantly comparing yourself to people online and how they all seem to be so much happier and more successful than you but most of the time it's all just fake.

HerpMcDerp

Completely unrelated to this movie reaction, but have y'all seen the new teaser for the live action How to Train Your Dragon? June can't come fast enough!

I watch a lot of horror movies and when I saw this in theaters recently it was the first movie in a while that I had to cover my eyes often. It was terrifying in an amazing way. Especially in a dark movie theater.

The Media Knights

This in a dark movie theater must have been an amazing experience! But yeah, there is just something disturbing and haunting about this move, we have not been able to shake it off! A job well done for a horror movie!

The Media Knights

Not yet, but we do plan on checking it out soon! We are super excited for that one!

The Media Knights

Absolutely agreed, it just stays with you, it's so haunting and disturbing!

The Media Knights

Loved this comment, thank you for this! It's especially difficult when someone in her position is truly being pulled at from every direction - constantly. Seeing her descent into madness was not only heartbreaking but also so disturbing.

The Media Knights

Thank you for always leaving such thoughtful comments, it means the world to us! We are definitely gonna check out the live action HTTYD, we're super excited for it! As for the others, we haven't seen their live actions (or even some of the animated ones, in Denise's case!) but we'll check them out, just out of curiosity! Thank you for pointing that out, we're not quite sure what happened there but the full discussion is available on the YT version!

The Media Knights

There is a lot in this that really is wide open for interpretation, but yeah, what you said makes the most sense! The fact that we go through so much of the story, not realizing when the disruption between reality and hallucination happens is part of what makes it so disturbing! Absolutely masterful, we LOVED this movie!

Did the end of the discussion get cut short for anyone else? Me and my mom enjoyed watching this movie with you. Thanks.

A great sequel. So much growth on storytelling and the cast--fantastic acting. My personal theory is that from the moment she sees Lewis behind her in the dressing room, very little is real for the audience/Skye. The Entity cannot afford to risk losing Skye as a host ("Ive been waiting for you for a long time."). I think it basically put her on autopilot, but couldn't resist feeding on her trauma--so all of the settings of the scenes were real, but what happened in them were majority hallucinations. I don't think Morris was real; I think the entity knows human nature well enough to know that Skye would want some way to fight back (and was paranoid about someone knowing she was at the scene), so it orchestrated and controlled a possible 'out' so that Skye would continue to buy into the hallucinations. To me, so much of what happens otherwise is just too risky for the Entity to allow. If it's always there, why would it let Skye do anything that would jeopardize the tour (like the meltdown at the chairty event)? It wouldn't. I think she was there, read off the prompter like a robot, and went home. No red flags. No feathers ruffled. Because she's behaving oddly, her mom checks her into the clinic (hence that setting), but again, nothing happens. Her body sleeps the day away while the Entity takes her mind on a horrorifying rollercoaster.
