Comments

Bluhawke

Yes! So excited to watch this when I get home from work. Top-tier remake.

Melissa Creel

Yay. This movie was a surprise for me. I knew Denzel would be great but Dakoda Fanning st such a young age killed it with her acting. I really enjoyed it.

Matthias Fendl

Yeeeha! what a surprise that we get “Man on Fire!” Thank you!

Melissa Creel

I mentioned it in another Denzel video but I'll mention it again. If you guys haven't already seen Book of Eli that is a great watch. Another where Denzel is bad ass. Oh, also, Training Day with Denzel and Ethan Hawk. Such a great movie.

Helion

YEEEESSS, THANK YOU!!!!

Helion

Shouldn't have spoiled that detail. please edit. I wanted that to be a surprise. That's why I plead for them to watch this one first.

Oh well done guys :) An outstanding choice! I've not commented for a while, but this is the sort of movie that brings me home. I noticed that you'd been working your way through the Denzel canon; I hope you're going to take a look at Fallen, one of his most under-rated movies, and a with a fabulous supporting cast. Man on Fire is exceptional. One of the things that makes it so is the absolutely mesmerising brilliance of a young Dakota Fanning; it's the best child performance I've seen since Natalie Portman in Leon. (Another movie to check out!) What a showcase for Washington's fabulous array of acting talents though. This is one of my favourite films of his. Other things to note; Walken. As usual tremendous. Totally believable in his role. Giancarlo Giannini, superb in this. You guys ever gonna work your way through the remainder of the Hannibal Lecter series? Cause he's great in Hannibal. Rachel Ticotin (of Total Recall and Falling Down) is always watchable; she's cute and sexy but she does "tough" really well too. Hard to pull that off. No, well done guys on choosing this movie :) A tremendous choice. Looking forward to properly watching this with you both.

Matthias Fendl

Sorry, I will be more careful with spoilers in the future

Helion

I really appreciate it man :)

This is SUCH a good movie. One of my faves. Can't wait to dive into this one with you guys. I bet you had a BLAST (no pun intended with that one guy, know? 😅🤪)

The Media Knights

He edited it in time but I can imagine what you guys are talking about. No worries, that one is already filmed too ❤️

The Media Knights

Haha! Catching up with this one after watching a couple of his more recent films was extremely fun. Denzel is such a fantastic lead!

The Media Knights

Their relationship and dynamics is what made this film special. It’s the heart of the story and they knew exactly how to make us feel invested. Denzel was a charisma magnet as per usual and Dakota’s performance was outright impressive!

The Media Knights

Thank you for the suggestion! Both of those are on our list! ❤️ 😁

The Media Knights

Dakota Fanning is phenomenal here! Really impressive seeing what she could do as a kid.

TheEndlessVoid

This is a fantastic movie 🫶🏻. Dakota was impressive for her age. Jenna Ortega once said that Dakota Fanning‘s performance in this movie is the reason why she wanted to become an actress as a child.

Hot Fuzz followed by Constantine followed by Man on Fire is an absolutely LEGENDARY setlist, my god 😂 Also, and for some tonal whiplash, this is an EXTREMELY accurate depiction of PTSD. Denzel does a phenomenal job with his portrayal, the withdrawn but still engaged behavior in public, and then coming unravelled with alcohol and suicidal ideation behind closed doors is something I have seen firsthand, and have experienced myself. It's just an incredibly competent portrayal of how so many veterans live.

One of my favorite movies…can’t wait to get home and watch this with you guys, im so excited!!🤗

Helion

Just finished watching. First of all, thank you for taking my suggestion. I had a blast rewatching this with you on the side. I'll leave another fun fact here: The artistic style with the flashing images and the text noting the details he picks up.... Rockstar Games borrowed it for Max Payne 3. It's not the most successful in the series, but damn, I think it worked quite well in there too. Hopefully you get to play the series one day.

I really like Man on Fire. It still gets me emotional, even though I have seen it many times. Although in parts very violent, it isn't the explosions that keep me coming back. It is the feeling and thoughts that I am left with when it's over, that does. Tony Scott (brother of Ridley Scott) was a great director and honestly criminally underrated. His eye for visuals is actually fantastic and is shown through almost all of his movies. Man on Fire is no exception. The whole film is discombobulated and there is a constant feel over the whole production. The editing and shots are very clearly reminiscent of Creasy's PTSD and alcoholism so in a lot of ways we basically see the world like he does. Terrifying, but somehow also beautiful. This is one of the films that made me completely fall in love with Denzel Washington. He is so good in this, switching between bad-ass to sad to calculated to crazy and we believe every single second of it. The character of Creasy is really good and Denzel brings him even more to life. Nothing he does breaks the immersion and that only happens when an actor truly understands the character. Dakota Fanning as well is just brilliant. The relationship between Pita and Creasy is fantastic and both actors really drive it home. Both writing and acting for these two character is done with love and devotion. The whole cast in general is really good (Walken, Giannini, Rourke and even Anthony) but I also want to point out Radha Mitchells gorgeous performance as Lisa. The score helps us constantly feel uneasy and fits very well with the story. I am not the best at noticing scores but this one has always stood out to me just because it fits so perfectly with the movie. All in all, this movie is a real gem that leaves us with a truly bittersweet taste. The ending probably couldn't have been anything else, but I agree, we kind of want that happy ending, don't we? If you haven't seen them, here are a few more really good Tony Scott-movies well worth checking out: The Hunger (1983) The Last Boy Scout (1991) True Romance (1993) Crimson Tide (1995) Enemy of the State (1998) Déjà Vu (2006)

Great movie! Great reaction! I really hope that we're not done with this Dezel reactions after Equalizer III, because I would really love to revisit 2012's Safe House with you two!

going2thearcade

I'm loving that you guys are going down the Denzel library of movies. This one is up there in one of my top Denzel movies of all time. Perhaps next will be Training Day?? and also Equalizer 3 soon?? I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised with that movie and the cast *wink wink* Also your guys video/work really saved my life. Movies have been a huge part and passion of my life since I was little. And I am so happy to have found a channel where the same passion and appreciation for movies and media just flows out of the screen. The way you guys can go in deep with movies is just awesome. Thank you for your hard work and bringing us high quality commentary and videos. Please keep doing what you do forever. Thank you

BlueJean452

Love this movie. Hope you guys react to John Q as well. It is one of my favorite Denzel movies and I feel like not a lot of people talk about it.
