YAS!! Let's Go!!! So glad you're doing this one. This one's different in a good way. At least I think so. I love Tom Cruise and Emily Blunts chemistry. And all the different ways they had him "restart" his day was so funny. And OH MY GOD, Emily got super fit for this. She looked amazing! I just love her as an actress anyway but she really kicks ass in this and it's great. This movie disserve more love than it gets. Hope you guys are having a great day.

Groundhog Day 2: War comes to Punxsutawney :D

Amper Sand

I had a feeling you already watched 1993 Groundhog Day, but since you didn't make any reference to it during your reaction, it seems I'm getting old, lol

Edge of Tomorrow is incredibly smart. All the things you mention in your discussion is spot-on. The "time-loop"-aspect of the story is brilliantly executed and very cleverly written. We as viewers are just as confused and surprised as Tom Cruise's character in the first half so when we get to the actual expo-dumps they are needed and wanted, both for Cage but also for the audience. The acting from Cruise is really good in this one. I am not always a fan of him, sometimes he is just simply the cool hero and not really that much more, but in this one he gets to shine. A very good character-arc helps him ofc, but honestly look at his face the first time he is dropped into battle and compare it to the last battle. More or less a new person is there and you can clearly see how much battle he has seen. Blunt is good as well. Yes, she is a bad-ass all the way through, but Cage does get behind the hard shell and finds her vunerability. Their chemistry is strong and we do indeed hope for both of them to survive. I also really like the perspective-switches they do, where we sometimes know exactly what Cage is going through and sometimes we are in Rita's shoes, unaware of how much Cage actually knows about what is happening. Very clever. Stylisticly it is well shot and the effects are excellent. A good mix of CGI and practical, very well done. Completely agree with Ari btw, the sound design is very good. Overall this movie is really good and engaging. It even holds up for a second (and even third) watch, which could easily be problematic once the hook has been exposed. But watching it again with you guys it was still quite entertaining, which is not always easy to pull of in this kind of movie. Great reaction and discussion, thank you! Some other movies with interesting takes on time: Groundhog Day (1993) The Butterfly Effect (2004) Donnie Darko (2001) Deja Vu (2006) Timecop (1994) PS. For some awesome sci-fi (in case you haven't seen it), I highly recommend the series "Firefly" (13 episodes) and the sequel film "Serenity" (2005).

Yeah, this is one of his better movies, i’m not sure if it’s been mentioned before, but if you want an obscure movie from the mid 90s with a very good cast, try Things to do in Denver when you’re dead. Andy Garcia, Christopher Lloyd, Christopher Walken, Steve Buscemi, probably like five or six other people you would know right away.

This is "based" on an anime I've never seen/manga I've never read and don't know the name of. I think it's called "All You Need is Kill." The last Paxton movie I saw before he died, RIP, makes me want to look and see what movies he did after this. I believe this came out maybe a year or two after Oblivion, another good Tom Cruise sci-fi movie. Honestly one of the best time loop movies I've ever seen, although off the top of my head the only other one I could name is Groundhog Day. It's a common sci-fi trope - Stargate SG-1 had an episode, Stargate Atlantis probably had an episode, Stargate Universe had an episode, probably the first 4 Star Trek series had an episode, etc. Eureka maybe had one. They're always a good watch so you can see Ian Malcolm's chaos theory unfold. Deja Vu and Donnie Darko are similar but different also.

You guys should teact to the new 28 years later trailer!

Mack

Haha yeah just like groundhog day.

Mack

Y'all gotta watch the movie groundhog day 1993 starring Bill Murray. I watched that movie after I saw this movie same concept.

Michael G. Munz

Absolute best video game movie not based on a video game EVER! So glad you went into this blind!!! :D

Donna Castellano

All You Need Is Kill is a lot different than this. It's been a while since I read it, but this movie feels way more inspired by than based on that manga.

Andrew Roach

Indeed the great Groundhog Day is a must watch, too bad people have said more than that.

Matthias Fendl

please: no spoilers. The Movie Title will do. They'll figure the rest out;) Thank you

Matthias Fendl

Hi Denise you said in the beginning of the movie you where concerned because of the empty streets in London. They where empty becaus Tom Crouse landed with a real helicopter there. No CGI and because of safety restrictions of London: no cars on the streets.

Mack

I wasn't aware that I was spoiling anything if you don't know what groundhog day is you weren't paying attention in Elementary school...

Dustin Duvall

Just to piggyback, I also really like, Happy death day, and frequently asked questions about time travel

Dustin Duvall

Canadian netflix if you're looking to stream

I felt the same way about the visual clutter in the invasion scene my first time watching. Felt like I was going to miss out but the different versions made it so interesting to look at the details and try to see what changed. I've seen it 5 times now and every time there's something new and interesting to pick up on.

The Media Knights

Such a fun experience! Seeing him go from noob to absolute boss by the end was extremely entertaining.

The Media Knights

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! I can imagine how the movie can benefit from a rewatch after certain moments are explained. Glad I'm not the only one that thought the mixing and sound design here was superb! Thanks for taking the time to write to us and give us a recommendation list ❤️

The Media Knights

A bunch of people are suggesting that one! Haven't seen it but we'd definitely be game!

The Media Knights

Thank you Melissa! Wishing you a lovely week as well! Emily Blunt was an absolute bad*** in this! It was kind of surprising to us to learn that this film is somewhat underrated.

The Media Knights

Hey Robert! Hope you had a fun time watching this with us. We certainly were in for a ride. Great concept that kept us engaged throughout the entire film. Need more action like that "Dropping into the War zone" sequence!

Laviathian

Yeah it was more inspired by it, it's a great read though and the protag in it was a late teenager and it really delves into the psychological effects much more, would probably work great as a series.

Gabriel KD

I love this movie so much, I've seen it quite a few times since it first aired.
