Comments

Michael Rutter

Yes more MCU! I love that you guys are going through all the movie. It can’t get any better than watching two of my favorite reactors go through my favorite film franchise.

Mariia K 🇺🇦

Long time ago Thor was my favorite MCU movie 😊 . The 1st one and only)

Jordan Williams

I totally agree with your argument Denise!! I prefer Shakespearean Thor over Goofy Thor, cracking jokes every 3 minutes. P.S. Ari, the Secret Wars drip is off the charts!! I need the link ASAP! Denise, the hair is giving Sea nymph this episode, so lavish!

Hi 👋 Ari & Denise Thankyou for another GREAT Reaction... "THOR" The 1st, one, was a AWESOME Film, a Great Origin Story for Thor, Loki, Asgard & ALL Characters., always a GOOD Watch - Rewatched it, several Times HOWEVER: If/when You continue, this Franchise., Respectfully - I, will not Be Watching .. when I, Did See them., Initially - I, Thought they Didn't Match up to the 1st. They were Average, at Best, & Had some Memorable Moments BUT., not Worth Returning to for Future Watches. Nevertheless... I, Really ENJOYed, this Watch, with You, Both. Looking towards your Next Reaction Selection ... Cheers 🍻 HUGs 🫂 🌻 • Denise - Love your Curly Hair., a Nice Change ‼️

It's all fun and games at the hammer lifting contest until a dude with a beard, blue overalls and a mop and bucket asks 'can I clean here?'

Every time I try to watch this I get sidetracked when Loki picks up the tesseract. The location of the stone makes no sense from movie to movie.

I tried to really get into this, for you guys, but I checked out about 30 minutes in. I was surfing the web on my iPad and mostly just listening to your commentary. I'm just not a big fan of the Thor character - goofy or not. Movie is shot well, acted well, etc but my brain just kept tuning out. 🤷🏻‍♀️ On the upside, Captain America The First Avenger is next. Cap is my favorite, his trilogy is my favorite and I love the style Joe Johnston brings to that movie. I don't know why people 💩 on it so much. What I've noticed, rewatching these movies with you guys, is how vastly varied in style, tone, feel all of these earlier movies are. It's really apparent they're under the creative influence of the creatives, not a committee. The newer movies all look and feel the same - for the most part - it feels rather assembly line. I hope MCU can get this individualized feel back, especially since they're probably planning X-movies with 2025 almost half over. All those old Fox contracts are finally expired. I'd like the inspiration to come back. Some excitement again. I don't know if anyone feels that way but I do.

The tesseract was at the very end. Loki never had it in his personal possession in this film. The Casket is a completely different item - not connected to the Infinity Stones at all.

I thought Denise was Black Widow from Iron Man 2 in the thumbnail with her hairstyle. I enjoyed this reaction. I agreed with everything you both discussed. The huge creature which Thor destroyed at the beginning of the movie reminds me of the creature in the movie 'The Relic.'

"It should have been Sif." Eh...no? Sif is not part of the royal family. She's a soldier. Her becoming Queen is not an option. Also, Loki didn't make himself king. He was appointed by Frigga. When he told the warriors that he didn't thought that Thor would have been banished, he was honest. He doesn't hate Thor. Everything he does he does it out of rage and pain, not hatred. He got treated by Thor like he was his servant ("Know your place brother!") and he was bullied by Thor’s friends probably his whole life. Odin was a shitty father. He treated him differently, because he is not like Thor.  Loki is not interested in fighting and war. He is interested in magic, poetry and astrology. So, all the excuses for not telling him that he was adopted and a Frost Giant are just bs, because they DID treat him differently for not fitting into their image of how a man/a prince should be. At the end, when Thor and Loki were hanging over the edge, Odin once again rejects Loki, making him commit suicide. And Thor wouldn't have been such an arrogant prick at the beginning, if Odin hadn't done something wrong in his upbringing. How Loki handled all this is a different story, but I think his reasons are very understandable. Hurt people hurt people, you know? Imo Thor, his bully friends and Odin are not the good people in this.

Referring to your criticism of marvel movies, I understand what you mean, but I also think that people are to harsh on them. As far as I know the movies from phase 1 and phase 2 weren't that well received back then as well (except for Captain America The Winter Soldier). I mean, you said yourself that you didn't like the first Thor movie. I think some marvel fans are expecting Infinty War level movies everytime when Marvel is putting out something knew. But trying to introduce some new characters and new stories after the closure of such a big saga, that ended on such a high, is pretty hard. And there were also some incidents that caused some rethinking and changes of plans that were already made, e. g. the Jonathan Majors case, that had the biggest influence on the reshaping of the next phases. It's pretty easy to say from the outside, that they should do better, but writing good movies, that would the success of Infinity War and Endgame is not easy. But it seems like they finally landed a big hit with Thunderbolts again. So, if you want a great marvel movie that's about characters, then watch Thunderbolts. I'm gonna see it tomorrow and I'm really excited. I'm pretty I'm gonna watch it at least one more time at the cinema.😉

I agree. Loki was always hoping for acceptance from his brother and father but he never got that. It isn't until Thor is actually exiled and learns his lessons that he changes for the better. But its too late for Loki by them. He grew up with far too much resentment and anger. Odin is probably one of the worst fathers in the MCU and because of him Loki and Thor never got to be just brothers.

If you like Shakespearean type stories, I can recommend a really good sci-fi book series called Red Rising by Pierce Brown.

PumpkinHat

Also, I don't know if you recognized him, Thor's friend with the axe and the red hair and beard is the villain from RRR.

@srjcalonso

Anthony Hopkins!!! ‘Nuf said! After that performance he need that nap. lol

*NO SPOILERS* I went to see Thunderbolts* yesterday at my local movie theater and I actually really enjoyed it. Mostly because it was different than what I've seen from Marvel before. Ps. I encourage people to watch both the mid credit scene and definitely the end credit scene.

1:40 - I actually completely agree with you. There still were *a lot* of funny moments but the character was more somber, which - for an immortal being - also felt more fitting to me. I think the character got progressively worse and then so did the story. I did not really like the second film because it felt more like they wanted Thor to be like batman (Dark Knight Rises released between first and second Thor movie) and I absolutely despise the third and fourth movies. Both Character and Story are just ridiculous. That may also be influenced by the fact that you can clearly see Taika Waititi's influence and I do not like his writing or directing at all. I think the issue is that they thought they needed to "correct" his character from the first movie, make him edgy, that failed and so they hired a "Comedic Writer" and overcorrected his character into this absurd parody. It's a shame really, since I loved the message of this film and the development of the flawed hero character.

M@xR3acts

Not Taika Waititi's. He butchered Thor. I hate kiddy, goofy Thor.

Pretty much every time I rewatch Captain America: The First Avenger, I then rewatch The Rocketeer.

Are Asgardians the one pushing the Flat Earth conspiracies? lol I think Ragnarök still had plenty of the vulnerable moments for Thor, though Love and Thunder I think went a bit too far. I like the transition of Loki with him just first trying to spoil Thor's Day (I wonder if that was happening on a Thursday). Then it migrated to getting him in trouble to delay even further, then the reveal of his lineage really challenged him. This was the first time I noticed Loki actually crying when he was trying to get Thor to fight him in the Bifrost chamber. I think the real problem is that scripts aren't ready by the time filming starts and then they keep changing things afterwards and filming all sorts of scenes and then try and piece things together (IE Brave New World). I disagree with the origin story complaint, especially for stories we have already seen again and again and again. If the whole story is good and cohesive, that is what we really need. I am hoping that the revisit with Eternals might change your mind on it. People were complaining about a lot of the Marvel movies being so similar and it was so different... though I do think it would have worked better as a series given more time to spend with all of the characters.
